HAPPY BOOKDAY TO ALLY CONDIE!
I had meant to post this earlier then school got in the way, anyway, huge
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
to Ally Condie - Matched is finally released today! Did you pick up your copy yet? I sure did, after this, I'm off to read! Yay!

Music Tuesday!

You can do this a couple of ways:
1. Match a song to the book you're currently reading or a book you've read already
OR
2. Just share a song that you used to listen to all the time or currently have on replay

Once you have picked a song
1. Post the video (if there is one) with the lyrics below the video

2. If you're matching it up with a book, you can add a picture of the book and a link to your review (if there is one)

This week my pick is "Nothing Without Here" by Nelly :)

LYRICS
So they say, she's a bad girl
Some say she's a bitch, she's a liar
Fucking with her is like playing with fire
So I'll say (so I'll say) hey that's my girl (that's my girl)
And Imma be the one that's gon' make her better
And you can always see the two of us together
Cos when I'm going through some things I
Know that she's my daylight
In the middle of the darkness
I can see things clearly
Because she's near me yeah

Aint no way I'm letting her go
See I've been warned by everyone around me
She gon' be the death of me oh yeah
But aint no way I'm letting her go (no)
See all the money in this world don't mean
Nothing without her, nothing without her yeah

So they say, she's a problem
It aint nuttin cos I'm known to be a solver
And I aint worried about what other people call her
So I'll say (so I'll say) I tamed the wild one (I tamed the wild one)
I aint saying I can make nobody perfect
But I can really see what's underneath the surface
Cos when I look deep in her eyes I
See there's love inside I
Wanna be the one to show her
That I'm truely devoted
She's gonna know it yeah so

Aint no way I'm letting her go
See I've been warned by everyone around me
She gon' be the death of me oh yeah
But aint no way I'm letting her go (no)
See all the money in this world don't mean
Nothing without her, nothing without her yeah

Let me be the reason baby let me be the cause
Let me the only one you let up in your heart
Let me be the picture, sitting in your frame
Let me be your lover, I'll let you be the same
[X2]

Aint no way I'm letting her go
See I've been warned by everyone around me
She gon' be the death of me oh yeah
But aint no way I'm letting her go (no)
See all the money in this world don't mean
Nothing without her, nothing without her yeah

My Fall Break

So I had this week off for my Thanksgiving break and so I was up in Sacramento for the whole week; didn't do much, just a lot of laying around, being bums on logs. On Thanksgiving day, I went with my two older brothers and their families up to the snow! There was so much snow and it was incredibly cooold! Brr! Anyway, here are two pictures that I snapped from my cellular phone, LOL *__*

My family didn't celebrate Thanksgiving on Thursday but Friday instead, which to me is kind of odd. Anyway we ate some super yummy food; I had meant to snap a picture of all the food we had, but didn't get the chance! Anyway I just wanted to say a belated Happy Thanksgiving to everyone :)

Waiting on Wednesday (1): Vixen (Flappers #1)

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
______________________________

Vixen (Flappers #1)
by Jillian Larkin
Publication:   December 14th 2010 by Delacorte Books for Young Readers
Synposis taken from Goodreads

Jazz . . . Booze . . . Boys . . . It’s a dangerous combination.

Every girl wants what she can’t have. Seventeen-year-old Gloria Carmody wants the flapper lifestyle—and the bobbed hair, cigarettes, and music-filled nights that go with it. Now that she’s engaged to Sebastian Grey, scion of one of Chicago’s most powerful families, Gloria’s party days are over before they’ve even begun . . . or are they?

Clara Knowles, Gloria’s goody-two-shoes cousin, has arrived to make sure the high-society wedding comes off without a hitch—but Clara isn’t as lily-white as she appears. Seems she has some dirty little secrets of her own that she’ll do anything to keep hidden. . . .

Lorraine Dyer, Gloria’s social-climbing best friend, is tired of living in Gloria’s shadow. When Lorraine’s envy spills over into desperate spite, no one is safe. And someone’s going to be very sorry. . . .

From debut author Jillian Larkin, VIXEN is the first novel in the sexy, dangerous, and ridiculously romantic new series set in the Roaring Twenties . . . when anything goes.
So, what's your "waiting on" pick this week? Do share :)

Awesome Way to Win A Touch Mortal by Leah Clifford

Leah Clifford has made a VLOG about a contest on how to win her novel A Touch Mortal. Check it out! And my name for this one has to be Rixon (Rix for short).

Book Review: Crescendo

Title:  Crescendo
Author:  Becca Fitzpatrick
Publisher:  Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing  (October 19th 2010)
Genre:  Young Adult
Series:  Hush Hush #2
Pages:  427

Synopsis taken from Becca Fitzpatrick's website

Nora should have known her life was far from perfect. Despite starting a relationship with her guardian angel, Patch (who, title aside, can be described as anything but angelic), and surviving an attempt on her life, things are not looking up. Patch is starting to pull away and Nora can't figure out if it's for her best interest or if his interest has shifted to her arch-enemy, Marcie Millar. Not to mention that Nora is haunted by images of her father and she becomes obsessed with finding out what really happened to him that night he left for Portland and never came home. The further Nora delves into the mystery of her father's death, the more she comes to question if her Nephilim bloodline has something to do with it as well as why she seems to be in danger more than the average girl. Since Patch isn't answering her questions and seems to be standing in her way, she has to start finding the answers on her own. Relying too heavily on the fact that she has a guardian angel puts Nora at risk again and again. But can she really count on Patch or is he hiding secrets darker than she can even imagine?
My $0.02

I had been impatiently awaiting the release for this book from the moment I finished Hush Hush! The wait was horrible! Finally the day came when I could get my hands on this gorgeous book :) I devoured this in one sitting! I had missed Patch Cipriano so much, I couldn't wait to get started! To be honest, I was a little disappointed with how little there was of Nora and Patch! I was anxious to begin the book because of where Hush Hush had left off! But I didn't get them as much as I did in the first book.

In Crescendo, bigger events come to the forefront of the "bigger" picture. The event of Nora's father's death, the whole-split with Nora and Patch, the archangels, and last but not least, Marcie Millar. Wow! Patch's involvement with her got so deep under my skin! I started to think that this wasn't the Patch I missed. And Nora - how she kept pushing him away! Forget your pride! Lol! But everything Ms. Fitzpatrick wrote about the characters was needed to develop the whole plot for Crescendo! I was certainly on a roller-coaster for this one! Smiling, laughing, blowing steam all at once! Wow! The cliff-hanger at the end of this book is enough to drive you crazy until the release of Tempest! When I got to the end of this book, I was thinking "YES! Finally Nora and Patch moments!" Only to find that I had two paragraphs left to go. The cliff-hanger leaves you wanting more! I cannot wait to get my hands on Tempest! The plot, the characters, the romance, everything is perfect about this series! Highly recommend!

Book Review: Personal Demons

Title:  Personal Demons
Author:  Lisa Desrochers
Publisher:  Tor Teen (September 14th 2010)
Genre:  Young Adult
Series:  Personal Demons #1
Pages:  364

Synopsis:  Frannie Cavanaugh is a good Catholic girl with a bit of a wicked streak. She's spent years keeping everyone at a distance—even her closest friends—and it seems her senior year will be more of the same...until Luc Cain enrolls in her class. No one knows where he came from, but Frannie can't seem to stay away from him. What she doesn't know is that Luc works in Acquisitions—for Hell—and she possesses a unique skill set that has the King of Hell tingling with anticipation. All Luc has to do is get her to sin, and he’s as tempting as they come. Frannie doesn’t stand a chance.
Unfortunately for Luc, Heaven has other plans, and the angel, Gabe, is going to do whatever it takes to make sure that Luc doesn’t get what he came for. And it isn't long before they find themselves fighting for more than just her soul.
But if Luc fails, there will be Hell to pay…for all of them.
My $0.02

Wow! That doesn't even begin to explain how awesome this book is! It's incredible! From the get-go, I was in love with Luc - Luc Cain. He's everything bad. The ultimate bad boy! Everything about this book got me hooked! All the twists and turns, the way the story unfolded, the way the story came together at the end - you just know there is going to be a second book following! Frannie Cavanaugh - wow, did this girl get under my skin sometimes! The way how one day she went from Luc to immediately running into Gabe's arms the next. Like I said from the get-go, I was Team Luc, but towards the end, I began to see the light in Gabe, and thought, "hey, he's super hot too!" I mean, how can one write about two leading male characters and make them just as hot as the other? That's insane! When Frannie was with Luc, I was rooting and screaming and squirming for them. Then when she ran to Gabe, I was doing the same! No wonder it was so hard for her to choose! It was extremely difficult for me! Ms. Desrochers' writing is fun to read - especially reading from Luc's point of view. As a girl, when you get to read from the guy's point of view, it is always more intriguing because for a while, you get to experience what goes through their minds. I loved everything about this book - the characters, the plot, the romance - don't even get me started on the romance - like Ms. Desrochers says, it's "hotter than hell!" Definite read!

Book Review: Halo

Title:  Halo
Author:  Alexandra Adornetto
Publisher:  Feiwel & Friends (August 31st 2010)
Genre:  Young Adult
Series:  Halo #1
Pages:  496

Synopsis:  Nothing much happens in the sleepy town of Venus Cove. But everything changes when three angels are sent from heaven to protect the town against the gathering forces of darkness: Gabriel, the warrior; Ivy, the healer; and Bethany, a teenage girl who is the least experienced of the trio. They work hard to conceal their true identity and, most of all, their wings.
But the mission is threatened when the youngest angel, Bethany, is sent to high school and falls in love with the handsome school captain, Xavier Woods. Will she defy the laws of Heaven by loving him? Things come to a head when the angels realize they are not the only supernatural power in Venus Cove. There′s a new kid in town and he′s charming, seductive and deadly. Worst of all, he′s after Beth.

My $0.02

The cover for this book is gorgeous!  I could stare at it for hours.  I have to admit, this book was a little hard for me to finish.  It was hard for me to finish because the first person point of view came from Beth and with her being a celestial being, it was harder for me to comprehend her feelings and what she was going through.  But as the story unfolds, all the emotions and feelings Beth goes through are very human, so to speak.  Throughout the story, I kept feeling like Xavier was the bad guy, even towards the end. I have no clue why, I just did.  When Xavier brought Beth to meet his family, I wanted to be there and meet his family too! I love how Ms. Adornetto described everything about his family!  But enough about Xavier; I love Gabriel! Everything about him was perfect!  The story seemed slow to me as it started out, but towards the end everything came together quite fast.  Overall, I liked this book! I am excited for the release of the second book, Hades.
