She sent an innocent man to prison. Now, eight years later, he's returning the favor...
I’ve been obsessed with Rafe Mason since I was thirteen. The twisted part of this story is that I still want him, even now.
Now that he's holding me captive on an island.
Rafe has his reasons for doing what he's doing, and if I'm honest, I can't blame him. I’m the girl who sent him to prison for a heinous crime he didn't commit.
But now he's free and the tables have turned... now he's the one driven by obsession.
Torrent is a New Adult Dark Romance with disturbing themes and explicit content, including sexual scenes and violence that may offend some. Intended for mature audiences. Part one of the Condemned series. This is not a stand-alone read. Approximately 43,000 words.
Author Interview with Gemma James:
Welcome to Books Over Boys, Gemma! I’m so thrilled and honored to have you stop by my humble abode today. ;p Let’s start off with some icebreakers, shall we?
Q. If you had a “theme song” that played whenever you walked into a room full of people, what would it be?
Paradise by Coldplay
Q. When was the last time you did something for the first time? What was it?
The only thing I can think of is my first author takeover in February. It was nerve-wracking, fast paced, and totally exciting.
Q. If you were a professional wrestler, what would your ring name be and why?
I used to create wrestlers on the Play Station. We're talking before the PS2 even, lol. The girl I created wore a lot of green and her name was Gemini.
Tell us a little about yourself. Who is Gemma James?
Q. If you had to describe yourself using three words, they would be...
Since we're talking about Gemma here, lol. The three words I'd use would be risk-taker, adventurous, and deviant.
Q. What’s your most favorite book of all time? Like, ever? ;p
That's a hard question. I'd have to go with Breath of Scandal by Sandra Brown.
Q. When you’re not writing, you’re ____?
Obsessing about not writing, lol. When I'm not doing that, I'm either marketing my work, designing covers and graphics, or networking. I'm a workaholic. On my downtime, I spend time with my husband and kids, and of course, I like to read. Sometimes I'll get sucked into a Netflix marathon. I also love to go for drives.
Q. What’s one thing that readers would be surprised to find out about you?
Hmmm. That the thought of participating in an author event terrifies me? I think I come across as a people person online, but the idea of meeting people face-to-face, and signing books, sends me into a panic. I get nervous just signing copies at home before shipping them out!
Now, let’s talk about writing and books, eh?
Q. What captivates you the most about writing?
Getting lost inside another world. I love playing God and creating characters and the world they live in. I also can't resist torturing them in all kinds of fun ways.
Q. How would you describe your latest release, Torrent, in one sentence? What are you most excited about for this release?
One sentence huh? Okay, I'll give it a go: Torrent is a dark tale of revenge and obsession that will push your boundaries and leave you clinging to the edge of the cliff at the end.
I'm excited how everyone else is excited about Torrent!
Q. What kind of writer are you? Do you plot and outline? Do you write as you go? Or are you a little bit of both?
A little of both. I do most of the plotting in my head. I take notes, but I usually forget about them, or they lose their value to me because the story has changed so much since I wrote them. I write mostly by the seat of my pants.
Q. For those who are unfamiliar with Alex, how would you introduce her? What’s Rafe’s favorite thing about her?
Alex is a 23-year-old girl who hasn't learned how to live on her own yet. She hides an incredible amount of pain and knows her past is about to catch up with her, only she never expected facing the consequences would be so painful yet thrilling.
Rafe loves the taste of her tears.
Q. What are five of your favorite things about Rafe? What is one of Alex’s favorite lines from him?
His general bad boy hotness. His controlling nature. His vulnerability. His honesty. His kinky ways.
“Fuck. I haven’t had a woman suck me off in eight years.”
Q. What do you think is the easiest part of writing? What was the hardest part of writing Torrent?
The easiest part of writing is when the book is finished, lol.
The hardest part of writing Torrent was finding the beginning and just feeling it. I pushed through much of this book while sick with bronchitis, and I had a hard time feeling what I was writing. I hate writing like that.
Q. Lastly, before you go, can you share a snippet from Torrent with us?
I'd be glad to!
Her deviant nature pulled at me like a habit I couldn’t quit. I took her mouth with greed, forcing her lips apart and thrusting my tongue inside. No build up, no closed-mouthed kisses to ease us into it. We plummeted into a full-on mouth fuck. With a deep moan, she pushed her tongue against mine, and I sucked her deeper, tasting her flavor and her tears.
Thank you for being here today, Gemma! It’s been a blast! Congrats on the release of Torrent!
Thank you! And thanks for having me!
About the author:
Christina Jean Michaels was born in Paradise, California, but she has found the true home of her heart in Eugene, Oregon where she finds plenty of inspiration for storytelling.
When she was young, her mother said she hated words. Now she can't imagine not writing. She became an avid reader when she was thirteen and discovered the world of Sweet Valley High. About a year later she realized she could play God and write about her own characters. She has been writing in some form ever since.
She's also written erotica under the pseudonym of Gemma James and loves to explore the darker side of sex in her fiction. She's morbidly curious about anything dark and edgy and enjoys exploring the deviant side of human nature. Her stories have been described as being "not for the faint of heart."
Christina lives with her husband and their four children—three rambunctious UFC/wrestling-loving boys and one girl who steals everyone’s attention.
