Since the car crash that took her father’s life three years ago, Emma’s life has been a freaky — and unending — lesson in caution. Surviving “accidents” has taken priority over being a normal seventeen-year-old, so Emma spends her days taking pictures of life instead of living it. Falling in love with a boy was never part of the plan. Falling for a reaper who makes her chest ache and her head spin? Not an option.

It’s not easy being dead, especially for a reaper in love with a girl fate has put on his list not once, but twice. Finn’s fellow reapers give him hell about spending time with Emma, but Finn couldn’t let her die before, and he’s not about to let her die now. He will protect the girl he loves from the evil he accidentally unleashed, even if it means sacrificing the only thing he has left…his soul.

My $0.02

For a while now, I’ve heard quite a lot of buzz surrounding this book from a couple of my fellow book bloggers, so I couldn’t wait to see what it was all about.  Inbetween takes you on a journey where when all the odds are stacked against you, you still fight tooth and nail to be with the one you love.  After reading it, I totally get why there is all that buzz.  Inbetween was sweet and heart-wrenching yet very satisfying.  I felt that whenever Emma and Finn were together, it was so hopeless because there was no way that they could ever really, truly be together and that tugged at my heartstrings.  I couldn’t stop rooting for them and the whole time I was reading, I just kept thinking, “OHMG, just touch each other already!”  It was torture and I couldn’t stand it!

Inbetween has an excellent cast of characters.  Emma and her best friend, Cash, had such a comfortable relationship with each other that for a second I felt like it was a brotherly-sisterly type of thing but at times, I felt like Cash liked her more than just a friend but in the end, they were just really great friends to each other.  Also, as the story comes to a close, I am intrigued as to what happened or what’s going to happen to Cash.  I am so hoping to see more of him in book two!  Finn, Easton, and Anaya were so fun too!  Out of the trio, I felt myself lean more towards Easton just because he seemed so chill yet he totally had that bad boy demeanor down that I couldn’t resist the pull.  I really want to see more of Easton, like a bit of his history and all that because I know there’s a whole lot more to him!

I loved Fuller’s story concept—that was what really drew me in.  How Finn was so in love with Emma that both times, he couldn’t let her die, no matter what.  And on top of that, there’s the whole history of Finn and Emma that was the foundation of the entire story that was so gripping!  I found it a bit odd how majority of the time that Finn was with Emma, he wasn’t in his corporeal form and he was more like a ghost.  I mean, I totally get it but like I stated above, I just wanted him to touch her or for her to just reach out and hug the heck out of him.  When they were together, there was that tension that was so palpable that I was screaming for them to do something, anything.  As the end approached, quite a few things came flying at me that I didn’t expect that was shocking in the good kind of way.

Inbetween was such an exciting and refreshing read that I couldn’t get enough of!  And as Fuller closed out Inbetween, she left you with an everything-will-be-okay sort of feeling yet you know for sure that’s not what’s in store of these two lovebirds.  She left me wanting more and I’m curiously dying to know what will try to tear Emma and Finn apart as we dive into book two!

  8. Love your review Momo! I really thought it was going to be like a love triangle thing too with Cash, Finn, & Emma. The whole story is very different than what's out there, reapers & all, so I liked that!

    Thanks for the giveaway!
