Book Blitz: The Boys of Summer by C.J. Duggan + Giveaway

C.J. Duggan's debut, The Boys of Summer, is a New Adult Contemporary Romance that released on December 17th, 2012 that is all about that summer romance.

Reading the synopsis conjures up nostalgic memories of past summers where everything was always more carefree. What is it about the summertime that always brings about that feeling? Hmm...

Anyway, today I've got an excerpt to share with you as well as a couple giveaways. Yes, couple... as in two, so don't miss out, booknerdigans!

About the book:

PictureTitle: The Boys of Summer
Author: C.J. Duggan
Publisher: Self-published
Release date: December 17, 2012

It seemed only natural to nickname them the ‘Onslow Boys’. Every time they swaggered in the front door of the Onslow Hotel after a hard week’s work, their laughter was loud and genuine as they settled onto their bar stools. I peeked through the restaurant partition, a flimsy divider between my world and theirs. I couldn’t help but smile whenever I saw them, saw him... Toby Morrison.

Quiet seventeen-year-old Tess doesn’t relish the thought of a summertime job. She wants nothing more than to forget the past haunts of high school and have fun with her best friends before the dreaded Year Twelve begins.

To Tess, summer is when everything happens: riding bikes down to the lake, watching the fireworks at the Onslow Show and water bomb fights at the sweltering Sunday markets.

How did she let her friends talk her into working?

After first-shift disasters, rude, wealthy tourists and a taunting ex-boyfriend, Tess is convinced nothing good can come of working her summer away. However, Tess finds unlikely allies in a group of locals dubbed ‘The Onslow Boys’, who are old enough to drive cars, drink beer and not worry about curfews. Tess’s summer of working expands her world with a series of first times with new friends, forbidden love and heartbreaking chaos.

All with the one boy she has never been able to forget.
It will be a summer she will always remember.

Warning: sexual references, and occasional course language.

Cover Reveal: Shooting Scars by Karina Halle

Today's second cover reveal is for a sequel to a recently released novel titled, Sins and Needles by Karina Halle. I've never heard of Sins and Needles until one day on Twitter when tweets started popping up about its release and how boodnerdigans were so anxious and excited to read it.

I immediately checked it out, of course, and at first it didn't catch my interest but after some of the reviews started floating in with high praise and lots of raving, it seems like something I'd re-consider reading.

Sins & Needles (The Artists Trilogy, #1)Title: Sins and Needles (The Artists Trilogy, #1)
Author: Karina Halle
Publisher: Metal Blonde Books
Release date: January 25, 2013

Ellie Watt is used to starting over. The daughter of a grifting team, Ellie spent her childhood being used as a pawn in her parents' latest scam. Now she’s much older, wiser and ready to give her con artist life a rest. But returning to the dry desert town of Palm Valley, California means one more temptation than she bargained for – Camden McQueen. Once known as the high school weirdo, Camden is bigger and badder than the boy he used to be and a talented tattoo artist with his own thriving business. Ellie’s counting on Camden still being in love with her but what she’s not counting on is how easily unrequited love can turn into obsession over time. When Camden discovers Ellie’s plan to con him, he makes her a deal she doesn’t dare refuse, but her freedom comes with a price and it’s one that takes both Ellie and Camden down a dangerous road.

***The Artists Trilogy is a dark and sexy contemporary ride about three flawed individuals caught in a world where it's so easy to justify the bad things we do. This is a pure adult read (Not YA or NA).

This is the 1st book in the trilogy. It is followed by the novella On Every Street (released in March 2013) and the sequel Shooting Scars (released in May 2013). The third and final book in the series will also be released in 2013.***

Title: The Space Between
Author: Victoria H. Smith
Publisher: Self-published
Release date: April 2, 2012
Cover designer: Okay Creations

When Drake started the night at his father’s campaign fundraiser, he never imagined he’d end it being conned into buying drugs on the West Side. Losing high-stakes poker has its consequences, but he’d repeatedly face them just to hear Lacey Douglas sing. Drake sees Lacey light up the stage, and he has to have her. But his intentions for being on her side of town turn out to be the reason he can’t.

Chicago native Lacey has dreams of the opera, but life has its obstacles. Lacey has come to know her hardships as part of living in the real world and accepts them fully. When Lacey meets the intense and invigorating Drake, a fire is lit inside her, unleashing those dreams again.

Two paths that should have never crossed prove to create the exact pairing the other needs. But when their worlds take time to catch up, everything they have is tested. Finding the space between the two sides that challenge them will be hard, but it’s the only place that will keep them together.
