Attention: Gennifer Albin Has An Announcement To Make!
I was putting on lipstick when the idea for Catching Liam popped into my head. I've always loved Contemporary novels, but I was scared to write one myself but the story wouldn't leave me alone. So I called my agent who generally supports my insanity and pitched it to her. She enthusiastically told me to go for it, and so I set out to become a hybrid author.
When I first published Catching Liam I decided to use the pen name Sophia Bleu, because I didn't want readers to go in expecting Science Fiction and get a steamy coming-of-age story. It was never a secret and at some point juggling a pen name became a bit of a chore, so I sat down and thought about all the pros and cons of keeping the two separate. My agent and I spoke and we both agreed that it was time to re-brand everything under my name. No small feat!

PRE-BEA BUZZ TOUR: Crewel by Gennifer Albin
BEA is almost upon us - in a week (I think, not too familiar with the date[s]) - and if you guys haven't heard, Crewel is a chosen BEA Buzz Book which is like...totally awesome! So, if you're going to be there, definitely keep an eye out for Crewel and make sure you stop by to meet the insanely awesome, Gennifer Albin!
I found out about Crewel some time in December of 2011, I believe, and the second I found out about it, I wanted to read it right then and there because it just sounded uber amazing!

Author: Gennifer Albin
Publisher: Farrar, Straus and Giroux Books for Young
Release Date: October 16th, 2012
Incapable. Awkward. Artless.
That’s what the other girls whisper behind her back. But sixteen year-old Adelice Lewys has a secret: she wants to fail.
Gifted with the ability to weave time with matter, she’s exactly what the Guild is looking for, and in the world of Arras, being chosen as a Spinster is everything a girl could want. It means privilege, eternal beauty, and being something other than a secretary. It also means the power to embroider the very fabric of life. But if controlling what people eat, where they live and how many children they have is the price of having it all, Adelice isn’t interested.
Not that her feelings matter, because she slipped and wove a moment at testing, and they’re coming for her—tonight.
Now she has one hour to eat her mom’s overcooked pot roast. One hour to listen to her sister’s academy gossip and laugh at her Dad’s stupid jokes. One hour to pretend everything’s okay. And one hour to escape.
Because once you become a Spinster, there’s no turning back.

- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)

My Teaser
"Girls—" my mother begins, but I'll never know what she was going to say.- ARC → Page 17 & 18, Crewel by Gennifer Albin
There's a hammering at the door and the sound of many, many boots on our porch. I drop my fork and feel the blood rush out of my face and pool in my feet, weighting me to my chair.
"Adelice," my father breathes, but he doesn't ask, because he already knows.
"There isn't time, Benn!" my mother shrieks, her perfectly applied foundation cracking, but just as quickly she regains control and grabs Amie's arm.
A low hum fills the air and suddenly a voice booms through the room: "Adelice Lewys has been called to serve the Guild of Twelve. Blessings on the Spinsters and Arras!"

It's such a crazy world! I can't wait to delve deeper into it!
So, what do you guys think of that teaser!? Are you guys as excited as me? I can't wait for all of you to read it as well! Eep!
Happy Tuesday and happy reading, everyone!
