Inga Andersson is the envy of every girl in Asgard. On the surface she has it all -- great friends, a job as Odin’s personal fight choreographer, and a happy ever after with her realm’s hottest assassin. But when evil invades Asgard, her perfect world comes crashing down. Someone is planning to kill off the gods, and Inga’s best friend Ull is first on their list. With the Norse apocalypse a nanosecond away, Inga has to decide how she’ll spend her final moments of freedom. Because from the moment this battle begins, Inga’s happily ever after will be nothing more than a memory.

Some things are worth fighting for.

Title: Elsker (Elsker, #1)
Author: S.T. Bende
Publisher: Self
Release date: May 16, 2014
Age group: New Adult
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Goodreads | Amazon
Kristia Tostenson prefers Earl Grey to Grey Goose and book clubs to nightclubs, but when she transfers from her one-stoplight town to Cardiff University in Wales she falls in love with Ull Myhr. Her new boyfriend isn’t exactly what she was expecting. He’s an honest-to-goodness Norse God—an immortal assassin fated to die at Ragnarok, the battle destined to destroy Asgard and Earth. Kristia’s crazy visions are the only thing that can save their realms.

Her orderly life just got very messy.

Guest post: Elsker Playlist

Hei hei y’all! I’m ST and I write the sweet New Adult Paranormal Romances of the Elsker Saga. The books follow Ull—Thor’s overachieving stepson, a.k.a. the Norse God of Winter—as he falls for the mortal girl next door, Kristia Tostenson. I had a blast writing the books, thanks in no small part to the fabulous music I listened to. Here are a few of my favorites:

It’s Time, Imagine Dragons. I have loved the Dragons for-freaking-ever. I remember being so excited the first time I heard one of their songs on the radio—it was just this epic moment of awesome. I promptly bought their album, and proceeded to write to nothing else for pretty much the rest of the Elsker Saga. They’re my muses. It’s Time was book 1’s theme song. My characters are inordinately stubborn, they’re from two entirely different worlds, and to save their lives, they cannot come up with a way to meet in the middle. “I get a little bit bigger but then I admit, I’m just the same as I was. Now don’t you understand? I’m never changing who I am.” You guys sure about that?

Brighter Than The Sun, Colbie Callait. Not only is this song about fate and shaping your destiny, themes that are kind of big in Elsker, but every time I got in my car when I was drafting, this song came on. Who am I to tell fate where it’s supposed to go? Or what it’s supposed to play on the radio?

Uprising, Muse. Because no playlist is complete without Muse. Especially not a playlist about a dark, brooding, Norse god.

Demons, Imagine Dragons. Y’all know I could just go through the entire Night Visions album here, right? It’s just so... *sighs*... yeah. Demons is Ull’s song. He’s the Asgardian assassin ranked #2 in total kills in the realm, and he knows he’s fated to die at Ragnarok—the Norse apocalypse. So he feels a lot of guilt about falling for the girl next door. Not only is he tarnishing her preternaturally optimistic soul, but he’s most likely sentencing her to death. Demons, indeed.

A Thousand Years, Christina Perri. I know, we all write to it. It’s the go-to song for romantic scenes for my Norse gods. “I have died every day waiting for you... I have loved you for a thousand years. I’ll love you for a thousand more.” Ull’s been around for a really long time. But since he knows he’s marked for death, he’s never let himself fall for anyone. When he finally opens himself up, it’s like this dam just explodes. Now that he’s found Kristia, Ull is going to do anything necessary to keep her safe. Even if it costs him everything.

Ja Vi Elsker—Norwegian National Anthem. Ready to hear the real reason my book has that crazy name? It’s because I was trying to come up with a title during Syttende Mai—Norwegian Constitution Day. (Happy 200th anniversary, Norway! Waffles for everyone!!) And on Syttende Mai, we sing endless refrains of Ja Vi Elsker Dette Landet (yes we love this land). So there I am, stewing on what to call this strange little NA mythology story, and I keep hearing the words ja vi elsker over and over and over. And over. Elsker means love in Norwegian, and it happens to be one of the main character’s names. Boom. Title.

Thanks for having me Momo! What are some of your favorite songs? Tell us, and Momo will pick one commenter at the end of the day to win an e-book set of Tur and Elsker!

Epic playlist, ST! So many of my all-time favorite songs are on it! And Ja Vi Elsker... amazing! Well, readers you heard her! Comment below with some of your favorite songs and I will randomly pick a winner at the end of the day to win an e-book set of Tur and Elsker!

About the author:

Before finding domestic bliss in suburbia, ST Bende lived in Manhattan Beach (became overly fond of Peet’s Coffee) and Europe... where she became overly fond of McVities cookies. Her love of Scandinavian culture and a very patient Norwegian teacher inspired the books of the Elsker Saga. She hopes her characters make you smile and that one day, pastries will be considered a health food.
