Sex on the Beach, the do-over.

Cassie Wilder had a simple plan for what to do in Key West the second time around.

Testify at the trial of the rapist she helped catch last year.

Make sure he gets locked away for the rest of his natural life, so he can never, ever hurt another girl.

Wait for her BFFs to get to town, so they can celebrate.

And stay far away from Ty Connor, because three months after breaking up with him, she still doesn’t know whether being with him is worse than being without him.

Spring Break, take two.

All of the above? Out the window.

Turns out testifying is a lot harder than she thought it would be.

Not only is the rapist she helped catch last year not locked away for the rest of his life, he’s on the loose and looking for her.

Oh yeah, and it’s definitely harder being without Ty than being with him, especially when she has to watch him with someone else.

Welcome to Cassie’s world.

Title: Chasing Me (Sex on the Beach)
Author: Jennifer Probst
Publisher: Cool Gus Publishing
Release date: March 3, 2015
Age group: New Adult
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Goodreads | Amazon
Quinn and James’ story continues in Chasing Me . . .

It was supposed to be a love story . . .

I knew she was out of my league but I didn’t care. Looking back, I wonder if I hadn’t pursued her, would things have turned out differently? Is it Fate that determines our choices in life? God? Free will? Or just plain old innate selfishness?

I got her, of course. There hadn’t been a girl I wasn’t able to seduce. Problem was she seduced me right back, body, mind, and soul. She possessed me, tormented me, and showed me a world that was so bright and pure I was almost blinded.

Didn’t she know after such a drug I could never settle for less? Didn’t she realize no matter how many times I screwed up, or broke her heart, or bent her to my will, I’d never be able to let her go?

If I hadn’t known such intensity existed, would it have been better for both of us?

True love, the real kind, isn’t nice and sweet and pure. No, it’s dirty, and sinful, and messy. It’s like ripping a chunk of flesh from your body and watching yourself bleed out in slow, helpless intervals until you thankfully pass out.

This isn’t a love story. But it’s the only story I got.

Guest post by Jennifer Probst: The Second Book Syndrome

When I first wrote Beyond Me, I had no intention of ever continuing Quinn and James’ story.

Our Sex on the Beach series had been successfully launched, Spring Break in Key West was over, and I had put them through many challenges and eventually watched them receive their HEA.

Imagine my surprise when I couldn’t seem to get them out of my mind.

Writing new adult is a bit different than adult contemporary. The characters are younger, and are in a very unique time in their life. The college years is a time of exploring who we are, figuring out relationships, finding out our needs, and carving a niche in life. Somehow, giving James and Quinn an easy ending wasn’t working.

So, I approached my fellow writing partners and asked if they’d consider another story for their own characters. Everyone heartily agreed. But when I began the book, I literally had no concept of what would happen between them. Spring break and Key West was over. They were now a couple living in Chicago, finding their way, and fighting a different set of challenges.

Let’s be honest. Vacation is short and set in an idealistic world. Coming home brings all sorts of nasty issues, such as work, school, finances, parents, friends, and endless amount of pressure. Putting Quinn and James through the paces made it realistic. Mistakes are made. Choices are questioned. They are growing up, and they will either grow together or apart.

That’s what makes this second book special. The challenge is to offer the reader something different, but a story that will stay with them, and not ruin the wonderful experience they had with Beyond Me. Authors are always scared of ruining that first book by continuing the story in a way that won’t resonate with readers.

I let my Muse guide me, Quinn and James were allowed free reign in my head, and I’m happy with their continuation in Chasing Me.

I hope you are, too.
