In My Mailbox (10)

IMM is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren with some inspiration from Alea at Pop Culture Junkie where we post about books we have received during the week via mailbox, local library, or store bought, etc.

Wow, it's been nearly a year since my last In My Mailbox - seriously! My last IMM was on February 2nd, 2011. In my last IMM blog post, I started doing vlogs and for some reason since then I stopped. Anywho, let's get to the present. These are the books I received since last Saturday - January 7th, 2012.

Since Saturday, I received a package(s) every day up until Wednesday. On Friday evening, I went to my B&N and purchased the Soul Screamers omnibus, Volume One for the Soul Screamers reading challenge! I also purchased Switched by Amanda Hocking because I have been wanting to read this series since forever and I absolutely love the new covers! They're so gorgeous! :)

And the most exciting package I received this week was from Lisa Desrochers! Right when I saw the package with her name on it, I knew right away what book was within! I couldn't tear through the package wrap fast enough! I am such a freakin' fangirl of this brilliant series! I'm a bit sad to see it end but I'm totally excited at the same time! I picked it up last night and I'm already two hundred pages in...waaah; almost done! Eeep!

• Kiss of Frost by Jennifer Estep (Goodreads | Amazon)
• Transcendent: Tales of the Paranormal by Lani Woodland, Melonie Piper, Rita Webb, Wendy Swore, Melanie Marks, Heather McCubbin, and Evan Joseph (Goodreads | Amazon)

• Wasteland by Lynn Rush (Goodreads | Amazon)
• Anew by Chelsea Fine (Goodreads | Amazon)
• Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout (Goodreads | Amazon)
• Soul Screamers, Vol. 1 by Rachel Vincent (Goodreads | Amazon)
• Last Rite by Lisa Desrochers (Goodreads | Amazon)
• Switched by Amanda Hocking (Goodreads | Amazon)

Huge thanks to Yara from Once Upon a Twilight! for the ARC of Kiss of Frost, Rita Webb for contacting and mailing me the copy of Transcendent, S. F. Robertson from Wastepaper Prose for the ARC of Tempest, Lynn Rush for sending me a copy of Wasteland, Shellie from Creative Reads for purchasing and mailing me a copy of Anew, Jena from Shortie Says for mailing me her copy of Obsidian, and lastly, thanks to Lisa Desrochers for mailing me an ARC of Last Rite.

I purchased Soul Screamers and Switched this past Friday and I absolutely cannot wait to dive into those two as well! Aaah, so excited! Anyway, I apologize for the messy/unorganized format of this post! It has been so long since my last IMM post that I don't even really know how to format my list of books, my thank you's, and what not, lol!

Lastly,

What did you receive in your mailbox this week?

The Novel Formerly Known as Hellbent Officially has a Title!

If you don't know anything about me, the one thing you should know is that I am the biggest fan of the Personal Demons trilogy by the one and only, Lisa Desrochers.  I gush, I squee, I swoon, I flat line, I pass out, and I hyperventilate all the time when I talk about the books, the guys, the plot, the....everything.  One of the best series ever.  Today, I have the biggest honor of revealing the title to The Novel Formerly Known as Hellbent!

Excuse me while I go and freak the freak out! *runs to the room next door* I look a bit like this:

or something like this:

and this is me now:

*returns to the room*

Whew, can you feel my excitement for revealing this to all of you?  Are you excited for this?  Are you ready for this?  Well, first:

I really feel like I'm babbling on and on in this post and you probably didn't even read all of this.  Right when you opened this post you probably just scrolled down until you discovered the title.  So....I will post it now.

The third and final book

So, what do you think?!  Personal Demons, Original Sin and Last Rite.  I think it fits perfectly with the whole series and it certainly has a vibe like the end, doesn't it?  Or is that just me?  Let me know what you think about the title, the books, the series overall, in the comments!  I would lurve to hear them!

A fun little tidbit for you all:  Lisa Desrochers's critique partner, Andrea Cremer, gets the credit for coming up with this awesome title!

And now I leave you all with the Last Rite tagline:

What happens when you can't outrun Hellor trust the ones you love?

Book Review: Personal Demons

Title:  Personal Demons
Author:  Lisa Desrochers
Publisher:  Tor Teen (September 14th 2010)
Genre:  Young Adult
Series:  Personal Demons #1
Pages:  364

Synopsis:  Frannie Cavanaugh is a good Catholic girl with a bit of a wicked streak. She's spent years keeping everyone at a distance—even her closest friends—and it seems her senior year will be more of the same...until Luc Cain enrolls in her class. No one knows where he came from, but Frannie can't seem to stay away from him. What she doesn't know is that Luc works in Acquisitions—for Hell—and she possesses a unique skill set that has the King of Hell tingling with anticipation. All Luc has to do is get her to sin, and he’s as tempting as they come. Frannie doesn’t stand a chance.
Unfortunately for Luc, Heaven has other plans, and the angel, Gabe, is going to do whatever it takes to make sure that Luc doesn’t get what he came for. And it isn't long before they find themselves fighting for more than just her soul.
But if Luc fails, there will be Hell to pay…for all of them.
My $0.02

Wow! That doesn't even begin to explain how awesome this book is! It's incredible! From the get-go, I was in love with Luc - Luc Cain. He's everything bad. The ultimate bad boy! Everything about this book got me hooked! All the twists and turns, the way the story unfolded, the way the story came together at the end - you just know there is going to be a second book following! Frannie Cavanaugh - wow, did this girl get under my skin sometimes! The way how one day she went from Luc to immediately running into Gabe's arms the next. Like I said from the get-go, I was Team Luc, but towards the end, I began to see the light in Gabe, and thought, "hey, he's super hot too!" I mean, how can one write about two leading male characters and make them just as hot as the other? That's insane! When Frannie was with Luc, I was rooting and screaming and squirming for them. Then when she ran to Gabe, I was doing the same! No wonder it was so hard for her to choose! It was extremely difficult for me! Ms. Desrochers' writing is fun to read - especially reading from Luc's point of view. As a girl, when you get to read from the guy's point of view, it is always more intriguing because for a while, you get to experience what goes through their minds. I loved everything about this book - the characters, the plot, the romance - don't even get me started on the romance - like Ms. Desrochers says, it's "hotter than hell!" Definite read!
