I scribe YA novels. PERSONAL DEMONS is in stores now, and the sequel, ORIGINAL SIN is due out on July 5, 2011. My omnipotent uberagent is Suzie Townsend at FinePrint Literary Management.
When I'm not writing, I'm torturing some poor unsuspecting patient, lecturing in some less-than-exotic city...or blogging...or maybe just sleeping, but that doesn't sound nearly as cool.
Today is the last day of all the character interviews! Boo, I'm a little sad! Haha! BUT, I hope that all of my readers enjoyed every single one of them! If you haven't picked up a copy of Original Sin then...DO NOT READ THIS POST and go purchase a copy first! LOL, totally kidding!

Weeeell, hello there mister Luc Cain! *smiiiiiiiiles* It's quite a pleasure to be here with you today!
- Is there anything that you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances?
No. Well…except let my infernal brethren get anywhere near Frannie…and eat lima beans.
- Do you feel like Gabe is a threat to you? If so, why? And if not, why?
Is this a serious question? No. He’s limited by his quaint celestial notions of right and wrong, and by all the rules that bind Celestials. In other words, he’s useless.
- What's the one thing that makes Frannie uber special to you? What about her?
When we met, she was so wounded. She did a good job of hiding it behind all her judo kickassery, and the tough façade she put up, but she was afraid to let anyone in. But she trusted me enough to let down the walls. And when she did, and I saw her soul…
- Finish this line: "And I'll state something rash, she had the most amazing _______!"
judo skills (That’s all you’re getting from me.)
- If there's an exception to every rule, is there an exception to that rule?
Of course.
- Give three adjectives to describe the perfect kiss.
Frannie, Frannie, Frannie.
EEE! Thank you Luc for being here today! That was fun now, wasn't it? ;) *wails* Don't leave; stay...FOREVER!

Hi Frannie! Thanks SO much for stopping by Books Over Boys today!
- Now, I know both these boys vying for your attention is nothing but uber hottness but is there anything that you like and/or dislike about Gabe and Luc?
Gabe is bossy. He keeps telling me what to do. I know he thinks it’s for my own good, but it drives me nuts. Luc thinks he always has to protect me. The truth is, I could kick his butt blindfolded. But try telling him that.
- If Luc never walked into class that day, where would your life be today?
How it was, I guess. I’d be hanging with Taylor and Riley, fixing cars with Grandpa, and getting ready to go to Los Angeles for college.
- Gabe seems to be the light in your darkest hours, so what does that make Luc?
The dark in my lightest hours ;pBut, seriously…this whole thing—angels and demons fighting for me—has me pretty freaked out, and Gabe helps to take the edge off that a little. But Luc is my heart and my soul. He makes me think that maybe I’m not totally horrible after all.
- If you were to identify Gabe and Luc with a scent, what would they be?
Easy. Luc is cinnamon. Gabe smells really fresh. I describe it as summer snow or winter sunshine, ’cause there aren’t really words for it.
- If I took a look at your iPod right now, what are three songs you are currently obsessed with?
I love The Fray so something by them is always playing on repeat. Right now it’s How to Save a Life. Also, there would be My Chemical Romance, The Ghost of You and For the First Time by The Script.
- Give three adjectives to describe the perfect kiss.
Wow…okay… slow, soft, and meaningful.
That was lots of fun! Thanks again, for taking time out of your day to stop by B.O.B! Don't be a stranger!

Hello Gabe! It's a delight to have you here with us today! OK, that totally just sounded like I wanted to...eat you or something, lol! ;) Not at all.
- So you've been Shielding Frannie since she was little, how does it feel to know that you've been there all along and then have Luc Cain come and "sweep her off her feet?"
The biggest surprise was that Luc found her in the first place. Her Shield should have prevented that. That’s the whole point. But she and Luc are connected in some way that I don’t understand. As far as sweeping her off her feet, he, like most of his kind, can be very persuasive. Would I prefer she’d chose someone other than a demon to be with? Sure. But it’s her life and her choice who she wants to be with.
- Have you always felt something towards Frannie...or are your feelings coming to surface because of Luc?
*clears throat* You are totally going to push this, aren’t you? Okay. Let me clear this up. I am a Dominion. A Seraph. Like all Seraphim, I was never human. Emotion is uniquely human, so I don’t really have “feelings” for Frannie in the way you mean. She’s my charge and I want to keep her safe. That’s it. You all are reading way too much into the situation.
- If you were to be a superhero, who would you want to be? Or...do you sort of consider yourself the hero in the Personal Demons trilogy? ;)
I think everyone has it in them to be a hero. It’s just a matter of doing the right thing. Am I a hero? No. I’m just doing my job.
- What do you do in your spare time...if you ever have any spare time?
There really is no spare time. Right now Frannie is a priority, so I’m spending more time than usual on the mortal coil, but coordinating the guardians is a full time job. I have to oversee their training, make sure all assignments are current and necessary and report back to Gabriel.
- Name two things you consider yourself to be very good and very bad at.
I try to avoid passing judgment on anyone, including myself, so I’m not really sure how to answer this question. If pressed, I’d say that I’m good at forgiving and I’m good at my job. I don’t really think I’m bad at anything, but there are a lot of things I’ve never tried, so…
- Give three adjectives to describe the perfect kiss.
I’ve only ever kissed one person, and that was mostly by accident, so I don’t really have a framework to answer this question.
Wow, love the responses! I loved having you on the blog today, Gabe! Come back soon! <3
My awesome readers, check back on Thursday for a one of a kind interview with Frannie Cavanaugh!
Also, make sure you grab the Original Sin Week button located up at the top of the blog; it might just earn you a few extra points in the giveaway! I'm just sayin'. *wink wink*

- Which of your books from the Personal Demons trilogy was the easiest/hardest to write?
Both Personal Demons and Original Sin wrote themselves in about six weeks each. My characters did all the heavy lifting. I was just the poorly paid help with the laptop. But, The Novel Formerly Known as Hellbent sucked my soul. I started and stopped at least three times. I have a huge file of cuts. I have POVs that didn’t make it into the final book. Wrapping up a trilogy is really tough. Really, you guys are the problem. You expect it to make sense! The nerve! ;p
- Where did the inspiration come from to identify emotions of the seven deadly sins with fragrance/odors?
It was really sort of a cop out. I’d read somewhere that you should utilize all the senses in your writing. This was the easiest way I could think of to incorporate smell. Luckily for me, it worked. =) The first one I thought of was ginger for lust because ginger seemed a little exotic to me. Some of the others just came to me and with the trickier ones, I got help with from family or Tweeples. There are a few new ones that show up in Original Sin.
- Which of your characters is your favorite to write and which character came to you easier?
Luc was the first voice in my head, and the strongest throughout most of the first two books. He was very easy to write. He’s probably also my favorite. What does it say about me that I enjoy hanging out in a demon’s head?
- Which of your characters is most/least like you, and in what way(s)?
Honestly, probably Riley. She’s loyal to a fault, and I tend to be that way too.
- Is Luc soulless as he was created from the fire pits of hell? And if not, how can Lucifer grant him a soul upon his birth?
Yes, Luc is soulless. All demons are.
- Gabe is a dominion. What does it mean that if he falls, he goes to Hell instead of falling to become a mortal here on Earth?
No fallen angel can become a “mortal” per se, but a true angel is a mortal who has achieve celestial status. Gabe comes from the Second Sphere, and celestials of the higher spheres aren’t technically angels. Gabe is a Dominion, created by God. He was never of the Earth, so if he were to fall, he couldn’t return to it. He would fall the same as Lucifer and belong to Hell.
- Do you read reviews of your books? If so, do you pay any attention to them, or let them influence your writing?
I don’t have time to read all my reviews. I’ll usually scan the first few lines. If it seems well thought out and constructive, whether it be positive or negative, I’ll read the whole thing. I have definitely made some changes in my writing based on constructive reviews.
- Have you ever been surprised by a controversy among fans or reviewers - for example, you created a character without thinking too much about what people would think of him, and found some readers loved him and some hated him?
I’ve been surprised by some reactions to my characters or situations. I read a comment that said Luc almost raped Frannie in Personal Demons and I’m like, whaaaaa??? I’ve also read a few reviews that thought Gabe was “creepy.” I think Gabe is amazing. He’s so conflicted, but working so hard to do the right thing. I love him soooo much, so it makes me sad when people think he’s creepy.
- I hear that you are currently working on a new WIP, could you elaborate a bit for us? Describe it in four words.
I have two WIPs, actually. One is in the revision stage with my agent, and I just finished the first draft of the second, which I love SOOO much, so we’ll go with that one. Here’s your four word description: Unconventional contemporary supernatural epicness.
- Which question(s) are you most sick of answering in interviews?
I'm really okay with answering any question. The ones that I've answered most are "Where did you get the idea for Personal Demons?" and "Do you have advice for aspiring writers?"
Thank you SO much Lisa for stopping by the blog today! Congratulations on the Original Sin release!

When I'm not writing, I'm torturing some poor unsuspecting patient, lecturing in some less-than-exotic city...or blogging...or maybe just sleeping, but that doesn't sound nearly as cool.
Luc Cain was born and raised in Hell, but he isn’t feeling as demonic as usual lately—thanks to Frannie Cavanaugh and the unique power she never realized she had. But you can’t desert Hell without consequences, and suddenly Frannie and Luc find themselves targeted by the same demons who used to be Luc’s allies.
Left with few options, Frannie and Luc accept the protection of Heaven and one of its most powerful angels, Gabe. Unfortunately, Luc isn’t the only one affected by Frannie, and it isn’t long before Gabe realizes that being around her is too…tempting. Rather than risk losing his wings, he leaves Frannie and Luc under the protection of her recently-acquired guardian angel.
Which would be fine, but Gabe is barely out the door before an assortment of demons appears—and they’re not leaving without dragging Luc back to Hell with them. Hell won’t give up and Heaven won’t give in. Frannie’s guardian exercises all the power he has to keep them away, but the demons are willing to hurt anyone close to Frannie in order to get what they want. It will take everything she has and then some to stay out of Hell’s grasp.
And not everyone will get out of it alive.
My $0.02
I have no words to describe the level of awesomeness in this hot, steamy, and enticing second enhancement to the Personal Demons trilogy by Lisa Desrochers. It has been multiple months since I last read Original Sin but Mrs. Desrochers takes things to new extremes. I don’t know any other way to express my jumbled thoughts on this without revealing any spoilers! (Don’t worry, this is totally spoiler free!) And I say jumbled thoughts because Original Sin is just that epic—when I try to focus on one specific part of the book—my thoughts get swarmed with Luc taking over. Haha!
If you’ve read Personal Demons, you know that it ends with a huge bang that leaves you BURNING for more. Original Sin continues right where Personal Demons left off! Within the first few pages, I was taking off on that same high that fueled me when I was reading Personal Demons! Lisa Desrochers does not disappoint; her characters’ voices are hard to miss! They have a mind of their own and it’s almost as if they were real people! The multiple point of views are a double edge sword, I’d have to say! I loved reading in Frannie, Luc, and Matt’s point of view but right when something was about to get interesting, it gets cut off and it jumps into another character’s point of view—but overall, it worked for the storyline!
I love, love, LOVE Luc’s narrating! He’s got such an attitude, lol! I loved being in his head. Reading from his point of view made me look like this:
No joke! Needless to say, I squirmed with happiness when I turned a page and saw that Luc’s point of view was coming up!
If you think Personal Demons was a crazy, sexy, what the? kind of ride, well, wait until you get your hands on a copy of Original Sin! With the installment of Original Sin, Desrochers brings sexiness to a whole new level! So much hotness compiled into a book will burn straight through your fingers! When reading OS, I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough; I needed to know what was happening, what was going to happen, what? What? What? Before I knew it, I was on the drop side of OS, rolling for the end! So much flew at me; I couldn’t even comprehend my emotions! One thing would occur, leaving me jaw-dropped and before I could close my mouth another thing would fly at me and smack me on the side of my face! I’m not saying that it was bad, I enjoyed all of it! All the surprises definitely kept me on my toes! I couldn’t believe the twists and turns that Desrochers threw at us—I was completely and utterly shocked beyond…beyond anything! You just wait until you read it!
There were times when I wanted to smite a certain character, other times when I wanted to throw myself all over another character, and other times when I wanted to sock some sense into another character! Yes, all of these emotions where stirring within me when I was reading Original Sin! Lisa Desrochers is just that amazing! She made all these feelings come to life for me!
If you love witty, smart-mouth characters, steamy – oh the kissing and loving making – scenes, and surprises, then you absolutely need to purchase Personal Demons and Original Sin! Original Sin is one roller coaster ride that will make you feel angry, happy, sad, and mad within seconds of each other! Definitely one of my most favorite reads of the year!
Starting today, I will be celebrating Original Sin's release with character interviews and an author interview with Lisa Desrochers!
At the end of this week, on Saturday, I will be hosting a giveaway of a signed copy of Personal Demons and Original Sin, so follow along this week, read the interviews and then enter for your chance to win both of them!
So, do not miss out on all this awesomeness and grab the banner or the button and share it with the world - it just might earn you a few points for the giveaway *wink wink*!
"I spent my life folded between the pages of books. In the absence of human relationships I formed bonds with paper characters. I lived love and loss through stories threaded in history; I experienced adolescence by association. My world is one interwoven web of words, stringing limb to limb, bone to sinew, thoughts and images all together. I am a being comprised of letters, a character created by sentences, a figment of imagination formed through fiction." — Shatter Me
I am crazy head over heels in love with Jesse R. ♥
