Forbidden Book Club: First Five Chapters

Okay, I just read the first five chapters of Forbidden and all I can say right now is wow. Tabitha Suzuma surely knows how to pull at one's emotions. I don't know what to think right now...it's definitely different. Suzuma's writing is very deep and it makes your brain think.

At this point, I am surely hooked and it was a struggle to just stop at five chapters but I didn't want to get too ahead because then...it wouldn't be fun. Forbidden is told from both perspectives of Lochan (pronounced LOCK(the gard)EN) and Maya, which I totally appreciate.

Anywho, Lochan. <3 Man is he a tortured soul or what?! He's just so sad; I haven't read a lot about him but there's something haunting and empty and lonely and melancholy about him. I don't know...but maybe it's just the simple fact of how messed up his whole...everything - school, life, family, etc. - is but like I had tweeted, I just wanna pull him into my embrace and hug him forever. Lol, no joke.

Within these first few chapters you totally see Lochan and Maya step up to the plate of taking care of everyone. I just felt so bad for both of them; what they have to go through day after day, it just rips my heart apart.

Right now, I am very curious as to what's going to happen. I like it a lot, already. I can't exactly put into words how or what I feel about the book but there's just something completely and utterly captivating about it; I guess just the whole premise of the book is...interesting and trippy and crazy and amazing and weird and icky and asdfksdkfkljdlkasklfks - aah!

So, what did you think of the first five chapters?! And for those of you who have read the book already, what were you thinking and how were you feeling when you read the first five chapters?!

A Forbidden Book Club

So a while back I had tweeted that I wanted to read Forbidden dot, dot, dot. Then there was this twitter conversation between @ReadingTeen, @TwilightsDance, @katiesbookblog, @the_bookishtype, and I about how we all wanted to read it but you know...the whole brother/sister love thingy going on was sort of...an "ick" factor for us. For me, I was like, "This is where I'm totally drawing the line!" But everywhere throughout the blogging kingdom, anyone who read it, loved it...so I'm over here like, "WHAT GIVES?!" I need someone to hold my hand throughout this, someone to be there for me when I cringe, someone to be there for me when somethang cray-cray occurs, someone like...this awesome book club!

Over at the Reading Teen, Andye made a POST for any of you who would like to sign up and participate with us! If you have a blog, make a post announcing that you'll be joining this book club and just go back to Andye's post to link up! Encourage your followers to join along as well - the more the merrier! If you don't have a blog, but you connect with any other sort of social network, link that in the post and follow along with us. If you're on twitter, use the hashtag: #FOBIDDENBOOKCLUB to stay up to date with us and our reading! If you've already read Forbidden but would like to do a re-read, you can sign up as well! We can all take this step by step. :) Just remember, no spoilers. Those are deadly.

We're planning to read five chapters at a time, have a few days to read those chapters, and then we'll all come back to discuss everything and anything that happened within those five chapters! If you wanna make your own blog post discussing how you felt with everything that happened in those five chapters, totally feel free to do so!

We all started reading yesterday but it's not late to sign up yet, just go to this POST to sign/link up!

Forbidden
Seventeen-year-old Lochan and sixteen-year-old Maya have always felt more like friends than siblings. Together they have stepped in for their alcoholic, wayward mother to take care of their three younger siblings. As defacto parents to the little ones, Lochan and Maya have had to grow up fast. And the stress of their lives—and the way they understand each other so completely—has also also brought them closer than two siblings would ordinarily be. So close, in fact, that they have fallen in love. Their clandestine romance quickly blooms into deep, desperate love. They know their relationship is wrong and cannot possibly continue. And yet, they cannot stop what feels so incredibly right. As the novel careens toward an explosive and shocking finale, only one thing is certain: a love this devastating has no happy ending.
