Book Blog Tour: Momo's Playlist for the Covenant Series

Hello all! Welcome to the Pure tour here at Books Over Boys! Today my blog is one of the many stops for the Pure tour hosted by the fabulous Valerie from Stuck In Books! I give her huge props for putting together this amazing tour with almost one hundred blogs involved (uh-huh, that's right, we luff JLA!)! It's no surprise that I am madly obsessed with Jennifer and her awesome books so of course, I was and am ecstatic to be a part of this tour as we celebrate the pure brilliance that is Pure, hahaha (I'm laughing at myself and my word genius)! There is so much going on during this tour that I hope you guys haven't missed a second of it - reviews, giveaways, excerpts, various points-of-view, character profiles, and even a very special tournament in honor of JLA and her one of a kind characters! To get the juicy deets on all of these goodies, you must click here to be directed to the Pure tour page for all the direct links and what not!

As some of you know, music is a major part of my reading, so today's stop will involve a few of the songs that were on constant repeat for me when I read Daimon, Half-Blood and Pure! And even if you don't listen to music when you read, here's a chance for you to discover new music! Make sure you read all the way to the end because there are some giveaways going on that you for sure don't wanna miss out on!

First of all, I'm not even quite sure how these songs came to be a part of my playlist. I remember when I was starting Daimon, I had asked JLA what songs were on her playlist; she gave me two songs which out of the two, only one made it onto my playlist. After I had asked JLA, I went on a new artist/song hunt and I ran across these songs that make up my Covenant series playlist. Without further ado, I give to you, Momo's Playlist for the Covenant Series!

First up, these two songs always bring me right back to Alex and her crazy world of Pures and daimons.

Sixx A. M. - Are You With Me

It's weird that I love music so much yet most of the time I have no idea what the song is talking about...and that is the case with this one...and probably a lot of songs in this playlist, so be warned. Anyway, after listening to the song and reading its lyrics, I feel that in some way (because I don't really understand the song - I just like it) it relates back to Alex very well. Especially that beginning when the songs starts out with:

Laughing like we're crazy
Nothing mattered
Nothing fazed me
We were younger then
So much younger then
Everything seems rotten through
The eyes of the forgotten
And we were dumber then
So much dumber then

Doesn't it just sound like Alex? Nothing fazed her, her and Caleb laughing and hanging out without a care in the world. Okay, they have daimons to worry about but then again, that's where Alex's strength comes through - even though daimons are constantly on her mind, she finds time to just be a teenager and laugh until she gains a six-pack and just hanging out with her best friend.

This second song automatically came on when Alex was doing her butt chopping thang with daimons; whenever an action scene came up, this song was on repeat. And...after listening to it, I think you'll know what I mean.

Sixx A. M. - Lies of the Beautiful People

Right?! This song always brings me right back to Alex and her kick-assery! I've listened to it since the second I started reading Daimon and so this song and the Covenant series go together like peanut butter and jelly. To you, it might just be another song to listen to and forget but this song just encapsulates all the action scenes for me throughout all the books out thus far.

This third song was totally Alex in Pure...after some interactions with Aiden St. Delphi. If the Covenant series became a musical, Alex would most definitely be singing this to Aiden. In Pure. Not so sure for the first two books, but Pure - for sure!

Within Temptations - A Dangerous Mind

As you know, I am in love with Aiden and his thundercloud eyes, hence the super big banner ↑ above. Also, if you've read Half-Blood, you would know that Alex is also smitten with these eyes. Aiden doesn't give himself away real easily but through his eyes, you can see it all. This song said it all.

It's in your eyes, what's on your mind.
I fear your smile and the promise inside.
It's in your eyes, what's on your mind.
I fear your presence, I'm frozen inside.

It's in your eyes, what's on your mind.
I see the truth that you've buried inside.
It's in your eyes, what's on your mind.
There is no mercy, just anger I find.

These next three songs came into play during the sadder moments that Alex went through.

Art of Dying - I Will Be There

Art of Dying - I Will Be There (Acoustic)

Just the title - I will be there - seemed fitting for Aiden, Seth, and Caleb to be there for Alex when she was suffering some very horrible events. I posted the original version but I listened to the acoustic version most of the time.

Art of Dying - Best I Can

When Alex suffered, I suffered. I felt so bad for her throughout all three books. I couldn't even imagine the pain that she went through. This song is like Alex telling everyone to get off her case because she's doing the best she can with all that's happened to her. Every time the song says, "Best I can..." I'm over here, rooting for Alex to pull through and you know what, she always does!

Art of Dying - Breathe Again

This is just another song that seems to kind of fit Alex. Like I mentioned above, I don't really know what this song is talking about, well okay, I sorta do, but if it doesn't seem to match Alex in any way, well then...I listened to it for the music, lololol!

This next song is the song off of JLA's playlist. If you guys follow me on the twittah, I am obsessed with his voice, like no joke. This guy's voice just does things to me. I can seriously listen to all of their songs forevar and I would be perfectly content.

30 Seconds to Mars - Hurricane

Aah, lovelovelove! Also, the lyrics: Tell me, would you kill to save a life? Tell me, would you kill to prove you're right? Crash, crash, burn. Let it all burn. This hurricane's chasing us all underground. This song couldn't be more true to Alex in Half-Blood! It also reminds me of Half-Blood's tagline: Could you kill the one you love? Eh, it's almost the same...either way, the song is fitting, lol!

And lastly, this song JLA mentioned it to me one night via the twittah. I was freakin' out big time when I found out. Freakin' out...in a good way! If you guys thought I was crazy about the last song ↑, oooh boy! I'm heels over head for this band! Love them to death and back! I was so excited because I tweet about them quite a bit and I didn't think anyone ever paid attention to my tweets about them or actually checked out their songs so when JLA told me this was Aiden's song (I think that's what she said; either Aiden or Alex's song), I nearly gave out!

The Maine - Saving Grace

I don't know what the significance of this song is just yet...but if Aiden and The Maine are ever in the same sentence, I'll back that any day! This video is the original version of the song but The Maine has released another, slower version of this song that I am crazy in love with as well. Both versions are definitely worth checking out. Please? For me? Fine, not for me. But for Aiden? And the awesome JLA? <33

The Maine - Saving Grace (Take 2)

Could this song be from Aiden to Alex? Squee status. If so, I am dying to read Deity - now! I seriously can't wait to see what goes down! Well, after listening to both versions, which one do you like more? John Ohh's voice in Take 2 is...*shivers* amazing! Oh humananah!

Well, that wraps up my book playlist for the Covenant series! Now onto the giveaway details. There are two tour wide giveaways going on throughout the entire tour. The YA Heroine Tournament

I haven't been writing up posts to inform all my readers about Alexandria's progress in the tournament so I guess that's what this post is for. It might get a bit lengthy because I'm going to wrap up everything about all of Alex's matches and the tournament in general and how it was to be an advocate.

When I first found out that I was going to become Alex's advocate, I was so excited. You don't even understand. I was fangirling all over the place and being a weirdo and going berserk and all that. I was ecstatic because I enjoyed Half-Blood so much and I truly felt that Alex was the best heroine ever. Okay, maybe I was a bit biased but still.

When the YA Sisterhood put up the bracket for the matches, I found out that Alex's first match was going to be against Nora Grey from Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush, Hush saga. I read those books but I read them for the extremely sexy Patch Cipriano so when I saw that Alex was going up against Nora, I wasn't that worried only because in comparison, I felt that Alex was more kick-ass.

Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1)Being an advocate was extremely rewarding yet very draining and tiring all at once. In between each match, you have a week to basically rest up before your next round. Now you think a week is long but on the advocating side, it really isn't. You need time to reach out to others, inform people about the when, where, and what, and just time in general. The hardest part for me during this tournament was writing up my defense post for Alex. The hardest part of the defense post itself was when I sat down to write up the whole thing for the first time.

During the summer, the YA Sisterhood hosted their very first tournament where we featured the hot YA crushes. It was a new thing to me and all the others who advocated so I wasn't really sure what to put in my defense post so I kind of just wrote whatever I thought would work. This time though, I'm not sure if it was just me or what, but the vibe I got was totally different from the tourney that took place during the summertime. So, when it came time for me to submit my post, I was very nervous because I knew a whole lot of people were going to read it and seriously base their votes off of it. And okay, fine, because the author was going to read it too. I sat at the table with my laptop for four hours and worked on that post forever. Time period: 5pm-9pm, to be exact. But after I finished typing everything up and re-reading the post ten times over, I honestly felt like I did a really good job with defending Alex so...I was happy and proud of myself, lol.

When the match day rolled around, it was a school day for me which sort of freaked me out because then I couldn't be online as much to support my gal. But then I thought, "Well, I basically only really need to tweet." And I could do that from my lame phone so that's what I did throughout my school day. Whenever I got a chance, I sent a tweet from my phone from school to try and help garner more Alex votes. But even when I got home, I didn't tweet or advocate as much because like I had stated above, I felt that Alex had this match in the bag. Nonetheless, you don't want to underestimate your opponent because you'll never know how it's going to go down.

Another thing as an advocate: stay away from the poll/match/site/post/whatever because if you don't, I promise you'll go insane. It's nerve wracking to sit there at your computer, constantly refreshing the page to keep an eye on the votes. Yes, I know this because when I advocated for Patch (ironic, huh?), in his very first match, it was exciting stuff, so me, with no life, did just that. But as a sort of veteran to the tourney, there's no point in doing that because you honestly can't do more than tweet on your match day. I've learned my lesson.

Alex's first match in the tourney was on Monday, December 12th. The voting post went live at 9pm my time on Sunday, December 11th, so that meant I had a few hours to get people to vote before I had to get to bed. The following day, I tweeted a bit here and there and when I got home, I checked the post a bit and found that Alex was in the lead. When 9pm on Monday rolled around, it turned out that Alex was the victor in the match against Nora. Now all this didn't happen by pure magic. Lots of things had to happen for Alex to win.

For example, the amazing, wonderful, fantastic, brilliant, and awesome Jennifer L. Armentrout offered up some juicy incentives that were just way to hard to pass up. In Alex's first round, she kept the incentives to a minimum and that was enough to drive people crazy. We had talked about gathering people to take part in the Deity cover reveal. Basically what happened was that I had a group of people help out in revealing the cover on their blogs on the same day that Alex's match went down to generate more votes. She also offered up a sexy, extra scene between Alex and Aiden that occured sometime between Half-Blood and Aiden. The appeal in that incentive, if you need one, was that it happened somewhere between book one and two, which meant that it wouldn't be in either book, which meant we needed to know what happened between Alex and Aiden. And with that, Alex was victorious. If you have yet to read the scene, you can do so by checking it out here.

I wasn't expecting JLA (Jennifer L. Armentrout) to post the scene so fast so when she did, I was at school and I didn't have access to view it because my school has this thing where it disables certain sites and all that. Anyway, I tweeted JLA and asked her to email it to me because you know, I wanted to read and find out what sort of hot and heavy went down with those two. When I received the email, I tried so hard to not hyperventilate in class because...that would have just been all bad. You should have seen my face; I was all smiles, from ear to ear. I was pretty sure I was getting some funky looks from other fellow classmates. Let me tell you, the scene was so hot and heavy, I felt like I was reading or doing something totally illegal. I know, it was that good. If you haven't read it, well you totally should.

After Alex made it through her first round in the tournament, her fan base started to grow and it was...necessary because in her second round, she was up against the powerhouse, Rosemarie Hathaway from Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy series on Friday, December 23rd. Now let me just say, I was utterly torn and distraught over this match because I love Rose so much. She, along with Alex and Ellie (Angelfire) were my top choices at being an advocate for. And it just kept getting harder and tougher because Rose's advocates were Jaime and Patricia - awesome blogger friends of mine that I love as well.

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1)I knew that this match was going to make or break Alex so I went to work on trying to get more people to vote for Alex. What I did was...hard work, if I may say so myself, lol. On the Friday after Alex's first match on 12/12, this idea slammed my brain and I sent out multiple tweets that if people wanted to help out with this thing that I had planned for them to email me. I got a few takers from twitter but I remembered that I also had the google doc. for when people signed up to help out in the Deity cover reveal so I figured that was enough people. I emailed multiple people and in that email I had asked these takers if they wanted to write up a mini defense post for Alex. Many replied back, agreeing to help and it made me so happy. But the mini defense post wasn't all that I had them include in their post.

Like I said, I knew that Alex versus Rose was going to be one helluva match, so I decided to host a giveaway where I was going (and still am) to give away one copy of Daimon, Half-Blood, and Pure to one lucky person. The give away is still going and it ends on Friday, January 6th, 2012 - the last day of the entire Heroine Tournament. If you haven't entered and you would like to, you can fill out the form here.

And as if that wasn't enough motive to get one to vote for Alex, JLA offered up some even more amazing incentives that just blew my head right off. For this round, she broke down the rewards according to how many votes Alex received.

500 VOTES: If Alex reaches 500 votes, I will give you a juicy scene from Pure. It involves a pool, but will be edited to avoid spoilers.

750 VOTES: If Alex gets 750 votes, I will give you Chapter 16 from Half-Blood in Aiden's POV. Yes, that chapter.

1000 VOTES: If Alex gets 1000 votes, I will give you Chapter 26 from Obsidian in Daemon's POV.

Yes, that chapter.

WINNING VOTES: If Alex wins against Rose, I will write a very lengthy scene/basically a freaking novella from Aiden's POV about a trip he and Leon took that involved searching down a certain daimon that got away at the end of Half-Blood. Now. If she wins, all of this will take me some time, of course.

As you can see, there are some links that I left there...so clearly Alex won her match against Rose because we got all the incentives but I honestly have to say, I did not expect her to win. I mean, come on, Rose has an enormous fan base and many, many, many fan sites and supporters world wide, hence all the incentives and motives. Seriously, it was by some miracle that we won.

I also have to say that I have never been more excited and tense and depressed and moody and gloomy all in one day. I jumped back and forth between those emotions all day. The match was crazy intense because all day, the votes kept jumping back and forth in favor of Rose and then Alex and then back to Rose and then back to Alex and....it was just hard to watch. Luckily, that day I went to the mall with my sister for some very last minute Christmas shopping, haha. But then again, thankfully I had my sister's iphone where I did a lot of my tweeting and retweeting. I swear, I was the Queen of Retweets that day.

Also, on that Friday, my sisters and I got together to do a mini Christmas dinner. They were getting so annoyed at seeing my fingers and eyes glued to either a laptop or iphone so an hour before the votes were closed, I got off, and stopped tweeting completely. I figured that since the votes were so close to one another, it was going to be like that until the end. And let me just mention that twitter jail sucks butt. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's what happens when you tweet too much in a certain period, say if you tweeted non-stop for an hour, twitter will basically kick you out and not let you tweet for at least an hour or even 24 hours as some have told me.

Anyway, at 8:55pm, I got on my lame phone and alerted everyone that the last five minutes are what counts and then all these tweets were coming in and my phone...poor thing...was ringing non-stop. Finally, I was able to read one tweet that said Alex won. I was so blown away. I couldn't believe it. LIKE SERIOUSLY?! Yeah, it was pretty amazing. Actually, because the votes kept swaying back and forth, I was starting to think that I didn't care if Alex won or not because I was thinking of what was to come if she went up against her next opponet.

But out of all of Alex's matches, the one where she went up against Rosemarie was definitely my favorite because 1.) both gals put up an amazing fight, 2.) it was super friendly and fun, 3.) the support that came from boths sides was unbelievable, 4.) it was crazy intense, 5.) it was challenging, and 6.) it went exactly how it would have gone if Alex and Rose were in a real life, fictional battle - head to head, where one wasn't falling completely behind. Man, if only Alex and Rose could meet in real life.

Anyway, after round two, I was mentally exhausted and oh so tired. In that round, I set up my giveaway, I got twenty-six blogs to help spread the word about Alex's match, and JLA came up with some bomb ass incentives. When I discovered that Alex was pitted up against Katniss in her third round, I had the biggest feeling that she wasn't going to make it past, but I had hope because I felt like that going into her match against Rose and what do you know? She came out victorious.

When it came time to turn in my defense post, I was more stuck than ever. I had the hardest time writing why everyone should vote for Alex instead of Katniss. That part nearly killed me. I also wasn't sure if JLA was going to do anymore incentives. Because I was like, "Can we out do ourselves?!" And well, hello people, it's JLA! Of course she can out do herself! In this round, she came up with even more fantabulous incentives. When she was dm'ing them to me, I was getting so excited! I then reached out to my group of Alex supporters and let them in on all the good stuff and got their help, yet again. The incentives were:

250 VOTES: a teaser from Pure
500 VOTES: a teaser from Onyx
750 VOTES: a teaser from Pure and Onyx
1,000 VOTES: a POV from Daemon (Obsidian)

1250 VOTES: a teaser from Seth's POV in Pure
1500 VOTES: a teaser from Shadows
WINNING VOTES: a teaser from Pure, Shadows, Onyx, and Cursed
CLOSING POST: JLA wrote up an awesome closing along with an amazing giveaway

And for every 1,000 votes, JLA was going to give away an ARC of Pure. We only reached 1,000+ votes so only one person received an ARC. Above, you will be able to find the links back to every single teaser that JLA had written up for us.

That wasn't even all of them. Five hours before the actual match went live, JLA and I had planned this little thing where JLA would host a live chat where all of us could get together and get pumped and excited. That was absolutely the way to kick off the match for us Alex lovers. We all got together and came and chatted (is that even a word?) with everyone and our morale was boosted, we were confident, and uber excited. And for the record, let me just say that for the first five minutes, Alex was in the lead. I don't care that she lost but just know that for the first five minutes, Alex dominated!

In Alex's match against Katniss, she didn't win but in all reality, Alex and Half-Blood won an even greater victory which was gaining new readers and an even bigger fan base. That made all of this worthwhile to me. During my time advocating, I received multiple tweets/blog comments from people telling me that because of my tweets, my euthusiasm, and my defense post, they wanted to read Half-Blood and/or that they voted for Alex. Whenever I got one of those, my insides did little flip-flops, my heart got all warm and fuzzy, and I was all smiles.

At the end of the day, reaching out to new readers of amazing books is what it's really all about. Finding people to discover a book that brought you joy and happiness is the greatest victory that you can achieve from this tournament and I believe we did exactly that.

We. Ha, if you haven't realized, I said we quite a bit. And hello, of course I absolutely did not do all of this by myself. That's like asking for a death wish. At the very beginning of this tourney, I knew that it was important to have a place on twitter where all of Alex's supporters could go and rally together. When I was Patch's advocate, I came up with the hashtag → #PatchArmy. In regular text, that stands for Patch's Army. I didn't include the ' or the s in there because it would mess up the hashtag, so it became the #PatchArmy. At the very beginning of this tourney, like I said, I knew I should come up with something unique that was all ours, a hashtag we didn't have to share with other twitter users that knew nothing about this tournament. I, being the crazy that I am, thesaurus'd words that had the same meaning as army and a bunch of words came up. I was immediately drawn to legion because...well, because of the movie LEGION, lol. I'm so lame. Anyway, the we that I keep referring to is the...

Okay, here comes my little speech. I'll try not to get all choked up and teary eyed. ;) I don't have the words to express how much all of your support meant to me. It wouldn't even be right if I said it meant the world and more...because that would just be inadequate. All of your tweets, your blog posts, your twitter avatars, all of it made me so happy and proud and more happy. It was crazy to see how much support Alex has and for that, I am grateful. Alex and JLA deserves all of it. All the love, all the tweets, all the support, all the everything!

Half-Blood (Covenant, #1)Because of this tournament, I have made so many new amazing friends and for that, I feel like a winner. It was so heart-warming to me when I saw everyone retweeting each other's tweets. When my timeline flooded with purple-y awesomeness, I was like, "Yep, the #HalfBloodLegion gon run this town!" Like I had also said on twitter, the #HalfBloodLegion can spread stuff like wildfire and one of the highlights for me from the #HalfBloodLegion was our giveaway hashtag → #SPARTA. That will forever remain special in my heart. Only we get what that means and it's super high larious and totally our little inside joke. If you haven't read Half-Blood and you're laughing at us like, "Those dorks! Sparta has nothing to do with anything about Half-Blood!" Well, you know what, too bad for you because...it totally has something to do with Half-Blood and its legion!

I don't even know how to say thank you anymore. I feel like I've been saying it so much that it means nothing now. Someone should come up with a new word...or words for thank you. Honestly and seriously, from the very bottom of my heart up to the curves at the top, thank you to each and every single one of you! And because I feel like you guys all deserve one heckuva shout-out, below you will find many, and I mean many, twitter links to people who are part of the #HalfBloodLegion.

and last but not least, the amazing lady who started this all,

I know I totally forgot a whole load of you guys so if you are part of the #HalfBloodLegion and would like to be added to the list, let me know! :) Seriously, thank you so much! Every single one of you! I love you guys!

Also, because I'm crazy and wanted to keep the #HalfBloodLegion alive, if you have a blog and you know...wanna sport the love of the legion on your page, grab a button below!

And if you read to the bottom of this entire post on New Year Eve's, you rock the hardest! Because to be honest, when I previewed this post, I was annoyed with myself and didn't even read the whole thing. I mean, writing it already took forever, lol. So that brings me to grammar errors and such. If there are any, well please excuse them because I typed this whole post up around 5-8am this morning, haha!

Happy New Year from me to you. I wish you all the best wishes for the new year!

A Penny For Your Thoughts (2): Meaningful Comments

What is in a meaningful comment?

Raise your hand if you have run across a giveaway where one of the requirements was to leave a meaningful comment. I definitely have. Sometimes, I find myself wondering what a meaningful comment even contains. I'm no expert on this but here are my $0.02 on comments and what I think a meaningful comment is.

My $0.02

First of all, I've always wondered why it's so hard to come by comments sometimes. I think overall, it's just because no one has the time to sit in front of the computer all day, leaving comments here and there. Lol, my second theory is that (and this is totally just my weird mind set) no one really reads the posts. But that is totally not true and even though I know that, my weird mind still thinks that way. So, I've come to the conclusion that even though there are no comments, it doesn't mean that no one didn't read your post.

Another theory of mine that kind of goes hand in hand with the "no one really reads the posts" theory is that maybe sometimes the posts become too long or sometimes the post was so well thought out that there isn't anything else that really needs to be said or added. I'm guilty of writing up extremely long posts, haha. Well thought out posts? Eh, not so much. Either way, when you run across posts like those, the most you can put in a comment is your own $0.02 or a little "I agree" statement.

When you get past that, the meaningful part of the comment comes into play.

When it comes to commenting in general, I always try to comment on every blog I visit when I log in to my blogger account. The only time I don't comment is when I run across a blog that is more adult related or the subjects/topics they post aren't in the same genre as myself. I do read every post I run across, no matter how long because (1) a lot of hard work went into it (such as the formatting - oh goodness, I hate formatting. That part takes longer than the actually typing, lol), (2) it takes time to sit in front of your computer screen and gather all these thoughts, and (3) there are some really awesome posts where various times I'm just like, "Omg, that is so true!" or "I totally agree!" or "Amen! You tell 'em!" or you know...stuff along those lines!

As a blogger, there is absolutely nothing more rewarding than getting a blog comment. To put so much work into a blog post and then to see someone comment and just say the littlest thing like, "Awesome post!" will make me more ecstatic than anything! It's almost better than Christmas morning or even your birthday! For me, personally, I love comments no matter how long or short they are but I think when it comes to leaving meaningful comments, the key to it is (1) reading the post, of course, and (2) taking something of what you know about the speaker and incorporate it into your comments. When you do that, you get a comment that is not only meaningful but it's also sort of lengthy which just scores - big time.

For example, if you stop by a post that has to do with a cover reveal, instead of just saying, "Awesome cover!" You could probably say something like, "Ooo, I like that cover! Even though the girl in a dress with her face half shown has been a little over done, I like that it kind of shows something that might have to do with the storyline." Or you know...something like that! If you happen to stop by a review or an interview post, point out something that you really liked that was mentioned.

All in all, I think what it means when someone asks you to leave a meaningful comment is that you should leave a comment that is not a general statement - a statement that could be applied to any post. A lot of time, I see comments that say "Awesome [insert post topic here]!" For the person who wrote the blog post, they would like to see something more in depth so that they know what they wrote meant a little something to someone. For example, say you wrote something up and you put so much thought into it and...wah, waah, waaah - no comment love. It's a little disheartening, for sure.

But then again, getting comments doesn't just happen. It's not like you put the post out there and boom, boom, boom - comments come flying! It's a two-way street. You shouldn't just expect comments to come. You know that saying, "Give and you shall receive." Or...something like that? Well, comments are just like that. Network, go out and leave comments and then comments will come flocking to your blog posts in a quickness.

Well, there goes my $0.02 on what a meaningful comment is and...comments in general. Not to say that what I said or mentioned is correct because there is no right or wrong when it comes to blogging (not really). This question, once again, sprouted from my curiosity. Since I've started blogging, I've become curious about a lot of things and well this week's topic tended to be comments and now, it's your turn.

A Penny For Your Thoughts

What do you think a meaningful comment is? What makes a comment meaningful?

Teaser Tuesday (17): Grave Mercy

This meme is brought to you weekly by MizB over at Should Be Reading!

Anyone can play along, just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title and the author, too, so other TT participants can add the book to their TBR List if they like your teaser!
This past weekend, I started reading Grave Mercy and....omg, it's freakin' amazeballs! Like way awesome! I've mentioned it before and I will again, I absolutely love stories that take place during the time period of knights in shining armor, prince and princesses, wizards and sorcerers, bows and arrows, swords, and horses, and...basically medieval times and this book scored big time for me! It's so epic I can't even put into words how much I love it and I'm barely a hundred pages in - barely! So, based off that, I know that once I finish it, I will feel as if I've lost a friend. Seriously. <333

With that said, I couldn't just do one teaser because as I was reading, there were so many lines/paragraphs that stood out to me and I just wanted so badly to share them with all of you, lol! So, without further adieu *pause* (I had to google which way was the correct way to word that phrase and....read this post: http://grammar.quickanddirtytips.com/ado-versus-adieu.aspx || BWAHA, I feel so dumb now!) Now, without further ado! LOL, I'm cracking up at myself SO bad!

My 1st Teaser
Dizzy at the speed with which my world has been turned upside down, I stall, trying to think of one last argument I could make. I have joined the convent to withdraw from the world of men, not to be thrust upon the mercy of one.
Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1)- ARC → Page 87, Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers

My 2nd Teaser
As he rows, his chest strains against the fine velvet of his doublet. The muscles in his arms bunch, then stretch, with every pull on the oar, and I cannot help but think that even with all the training the convent has given me, he could easily best me in a hand-to-hand fight.

Not liking the direction of those thoughts, I cast my gaze out to sea, certain I have been consigned to a special section of hell.

My 3rd Teaser
I begin to dismount and immediately Duval is at my side, helping me. He reaches up and puts his hands on my waist. I bite back a gasp of surprise as the warmth from his hands seeps through his gloves and my gown to my skin, driving away some small portion of the chill Death has brought. He lifts me from the saddle and as soon as my feet touch the ground, I pull away from him. I am all business, as if he has not just touched me more intimately than I have ever been touched in my life, and I head toward the grave.

More, more, more, please?!
I absolutely cannot wait to get school outta the way so that I can read more into this baby! It's seriously amazing! And the author's going to be about an hour or two away from me next Wednesday! Aah, I'm dying to go - SO bad! At this moment, I'm desperate, willing to do anything to attend and...I think, I'll be there. Not for sure, just yet, but maybe.

Anyway, back to the book! GUUYS, how sexy is the name Gavriel Duval?! That name definitely tops the sexy names list! I could just walk around saying Gavvvv.riiiiiiiii.elllll over and over again and I'll be super giddy as efff! I've barely been introduced to him for 3-5 chapters but already, I lurrrve him; totally my knight in shining armor. <333

So, what do you guys think?! Which teaser teased you guys the most?! ;) And if you guys have a TT, link me below and I'll check it out when I get home from school, lololol - school, gets in the way of everything!

Pdots → Did you guys notice that in the 1st and 3rd teaser, they both contain a word from the title of the book?! Omg, bet you guys didn't catch that! GRAVE. MERCY. Omgomgomgomgomgomg!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

In My Mailbox (14)

IMM is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren with some inspiration from Alea at Pop Culture Junkie where we post about books we have received during the week via mailbox, local library, or store bought, etc.

• Angelfire/Wings of the Wicked swag
• A Touch Morbid bookmarks
• A Grave Mercy bookmark
• Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers (Goodreads | Amazon)
• A Pure bookmark
• An Angelina's Secret bookmark
• Elemental by Emily White (Goodreads | Amazon)
• An Elemental tattoo
• A Masters of the Veil bookmark

Ha, I have a story to tell you guys about the books I got this week but first, to the swag!

A ginormous thank you to the fabulous Courtney Allison Moulton for sending me that huge load of amazing swag! If you guys don't know it by now, I'm like...the ultimate fan of the Angelfire series so when I got my sister-in-law to read Angelfire, she kept asking me how Will looked like, how Ellie looked like, etc. and when I went to look for my Angelfire bookmarks to give her a set, I was down to only a few...left for myself. And then...those awesome bookmarks showed up at my doorstep...well, my mailbox - same thing! I loooove them so much! <333

I didn't receive the two books until earlier today. I knew that the mail person came around 12-3 in the afternoon but I...just didn't go outside to check, lololol! I don't know...today has been such a weird day for me. Yesterday, when I got home from school, I knocked the eff out until 8pm, woke up for thirty minutes, then I crashed until 8am, this morning. I couldn't sleep anymore so I got up and watched Robin Hood; I told myself that after I finished the movie, I'll start on my homework. Gag - homework. That was such a slow and arduous process, nearly killed me. In between answering homework problems, I was tweeting and then a friend of mine asked if I had received Grave Mercy; that triggered me to go outside and check the mailbox. When I got to the mailbox, there were two awesome packages waiting in there for me! My reaction:

I totally should have checked sooner but I wasn't really expecting anything...well, I was expecting Grave Mercy but I didn't think it was going to show up until early next week. Anyway, I'm super duper excited to start that one; actually, I'm going to start it as soon as I finish up this post and this interview I have to do!

An enormous thank you to Shellie from Creative Reads for sending me her ARC copy of Grave Mercy! She knew that I have been wanting to read this one since the beginning of time and I seriously cannot thank her enough! She absolutely rocks the hardest! <333

Another big thank you to the amazing crew over at Spencer Hill Press for sending me an ARC of Elemental! I cannot wait to dive into this one! It's definitely up at the top of the pile! Also, the swag - eeep! When I saw the Pure bookmark in there, I realized that it was my very first one...which was sorta weird! I mean, I would have bugged the heck out of JenniferLA for sending me some Pure swag...but I...hmm, it never occurred to me! Anywho, I absolutely luuuurve it!

So, what was in all of your guys' mailbox this week?! Anything superbly awesome?! Leave yo links and I'll be by! Happy reading!

And dudes, Games of Thrones is almost back! WOOT WOOT!

Momo's Playlist (3): Vox Populi

I heard this song sometime last week and immediately I fell in love with it but then again that should be no surprise because I love anything and everything by 30 Seconds to Mars. Also, Jared Leto has the most amazing voice ever...well, second to my husband - John Ohh! ;) He can seriously sing anything and make it sound like heaven!

Well, I'm super obsessed with this song right now; I could listen to it forever!

30 Seconds to Mars - Vox Populi

So, what do you guys think?! Lately, I've been youtube surfing their live videos and omgomgomg, there are so many awesome ones! I could spend hours and hours watching them! I just love the energy from the audience and how they know every single word to every single song! Aah, it's so awesome; I totally need to see them live one day!

What song are you currently obsessing over, right now, in this very moment?

My 1st Teaser
I glance down at the girl again and anxiously bite my lip, drawing blood. Big mistake. The Darkling boy's head snaps up, his nostrils flaring, and the air around us sparks with static. His gaze is like a thrilling darkness sliding over my body, cold like winter's frost, leaving a trail of goose pimples where his eyes have touched me.

The Sight.
- ARC → Page 8, Black City by Elizabeth Richards

Black City (Black City Chronicles, #1)I started this one two nights ago and by page two, I was hooked! I kept wondering what was going to happen next and I was just...a whole lot of shocked, lol! I didn't get very far but this quote is the first time that Natalie and Ash meet and...omgomgomgomgomg!

And that quote - pure beauty! I loooooove the line that I italicized! Just reading through that gave me shivers! Woot, it was damn sexxxxy, lol!

If school wasn't in the freakin' way, I would flip and flip and flip through this in a quickness! I'm dying to know what happens next!

So, what do you guys think?! Well, if you guys have a Teaser Tuesday, link me below and I'll come check out what you guys have to tease me with, bwahahah!

Happy Tuesday my lovely BOB-ers!  HAHAHAHA, Books over Boys-ers. That is so weird...but whatever, it works!

Book Review: Pandemonium

Pandemonium (Delirium, #2)Title: Pandemonium
Author: Lauren Oliver
Publisher: HarperCollins
Release Date: February 28th, 2012

Find Lauren Oliver Online: Twitter | Website | Blog | Facebook
I’m pushing aside the memory of my nightmare,
pushing aside thoughts of Alex,
pushing aside thoughts of Hana and my old school,
like Raven taught me to do.
The old life is dead.
But the old Lena is dead too.
I buried her.
I left her beyond a fence,
behind a wall of smoke and flame.
My $0.02

I didn’t think I was going to be this affected by this book.  Everyone has a number one most favorite book.  Well, that book became your number one most favorite because there was something about it that touched you personally or something about it that tugged and hooked onto you—hard.  After you find a book like that and the feelings you felt when you read it, you’re constantly on the search for the next book that will deliver that same high to you—a higher high than that favorite book, even.  My point is, those kinds of books are rare.  You can read a thousand books and all of them could become your favorite but only a small percentage of those would be your most favorite; you’ll like all of them but you’ll only love a few of them.  Okay, I shouldn’t make this such a general statement because I’m not sure about anyone else but for me, this is true.

It’s no secret that Delirium, very quickly, became one of these books for me.  Something about everything in those 441 pages that made it unforgettable.  The words tumbled out of the pages and whispered sweet nothings into my soul (no joke!) and before I knew it, I couldn’t, I wouldn’t not love this amazing series.  So, of course I was very eager to dive head first into Pandemonium.  When I start the next book in a series, I get bored—sometimes.  For example, with the way how Delirium ended, I wanted to open up Pandemonium and get taken right back to the very second where Lena was before my eyes swam across that last word in Delirium.  But naturally, that didn’t happen.  Various times during my reading of Pandemonium, I kept searching for that little thing that would stand out to me and make it better than Delirium and overall, Pandemonium was highly enjoyable but for some reason, it was…slow to me.  I was looking for that spark that would pull me back in whenever I lost a little bit of interest.

Oliver distributed those “sparks” perfectly—right when I was going to close the book and stop my reading for the night, I was pulled in for another few pages that turned into one more chapter, three more chapters, five more chapters—un. put. down. able!  The slowness for me came when Lena took us back to the then parts of the book, which is ironic because at the beginning, I wanted so badly to know what happened to her after…the ending in Delirium.  All of this was overlooked as I got to the ending.  I knew from many people that the ending in Pandemonium was going to be a killer; I prepared myself, or at least, I tried to.  But no matter how much I tried to prepare myself, when I got to that very last page, the tears came and came and came and came.  I was so overwhelmed with emotions that I became hysterical; my hands were shaking, I ran out of breath, I was making weird shrieking noises—I was a mess. I couldn’t and I still can’t even comprehend…deep sigh.

Pandemonium definitely had a different feel to it than Delirium.  I’m not the biggest fan of dystopians and I guess one reason why I love Delirium so much is because it didn’t really feel like a dystopian to me, not completely.  But when I got to Pandemonium, those dystopian factors were very present and it kind of drew me away from the story.  A lot of bombs were dropped into the plot; Oliver has a way of hinting at them as you read but they’re so vague you hardly pay any attention to them so when they’re brought to light, you’re dumbfounded, left speechless.  I didn’t see a bunch of them coming but after they were explained the oooh effect set in.  Also, Oliver has a way of creating the biggest impact of the entire book on the very last two pages of both books.  So, I highly recommend you staying away from those two pages because without a doubt, you will be spoiled rotten if you flip to them, even accidentally, so don’t even think about looking back there.

Everything that happens in Pandemonium builds you up for the earth-shattering ending.  When people say that the ending will kill you, trust them because they know what they’re talking about!  Pandemonium is a swirl of crazy emotions: angst and confusion and happiness and pain and sadness and cold-heartedness, and so many other emotions that I can’t even identify right now.  Needless to say, Oliver has made a crazy, obsessive fan out of me and I absolutely cannot wait for Requiem—I’ll seriously do anything to get my hands on a copy. Anything, I tell you!  I can’t even believe that we have to wait basically a whole year until we get to see that pretty on shelves! WAAAH!  Anywho, read Pandemonium, stat!  If you’ve read Delirium and you still haven’t gotten to Pandemonium…well, then you’re crazy and I can’t be friends with a crazy! ;) Trust me, read it…because you’ll fall insanely in love with it!  You will, I dare you not too!
