#BOBblogoversary Day 21: Katy Evans + Giveaway

Welcome to day twenty-one of my two-month long celebration event for Books Over Boys' three year anniversary! ;p If you would like to check out the first month, you can do so by clicking the link that says "click here for all things blogoversary related" underneath the B.O.B. Turns 3 tab located in my right sidebar.

Even though the official day for my blogoversary has come to pass, I'm still celebrating because the weeks following my very first blog post are still worthy of celebration, yaknow? Well, I think so, anyway. Or, I just want a reason to celebrate, so here we are!

For today's feature, I've got the wonderful and amazing Katy Evans, New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author of the Real series, here to join the party! Before I begin, let's all wish Mine one heckuva birthday! All the congrats to Katy Evans on her release! I am so happy and ecstatic for you! You deserve all the success that's been showered on you and so much more. I'm so, so, so proud of you, Katy!

I stumbled upon Katy Evans' Real back in March one day when I noticed that Evans had followed me on Twitter. Intrigued by her bio, I checked out her book, got in touch, devoured Riptide... and the rest is history. Since then, Remington Riptide Tate has taken the entire world by storm! Everyone loves him, he loves me, all is good! ;p

I love and adore Katy Evans like nobody's business. It's so great and fascinating and awe-inspiring to see her fly to the stars and sparkle. I swear, she's got her own constellation! Back when Real was first published, I worked with Evans to pimp Remy and Brooke and through that process, I got to know how truly amazing and genuine and kind Evans is and it warms my heart to see how far she's come. Needless to say, it's an enormous honor to have her here to help celebrate my three years!

My life is pretty simple and I love it that way. I can’t seem to write anything fun if there’s chaos in my life, so the only chaos I prefer is the one in my mind.

I usually wake up snuggled next to Mr. Evans (unless he’s traveling due to work) and then I dispatch my kids to school. Next, coffee or tea. Impossible to begin the day without them!

Then I turn on my laptop and the day fully begins checking the most urgent emails or messages. Once the most pressing things are out of the way, it’s writing time.

I’ve got my tea/coffee, but I also need my music! So I turn that on and begin on where I told myself, the day before, I would. I write for about 4 hours until the kids get back from school, and then we have lunch together, talk about their day, and while they do their homework, I go back to check what I’ve written down. If I still have juice in me, I keep writing. Otherwise, I work on some more emails, try answering some social media messages, and then step away so I can clear my head before dinner.

At least 3 days a week, I exercise. Usually, I love to do it in the mornings, before I sit down to write, but I love an afternoon walk with my dogs too.

By evening, I’ve completely lived all the exciting things happening in the book inside my head. So I need to unwind. Hubby is my number one choice! So once the kids are fed for dinner, and so is hubby, I can’t wait to curl up with him with a book or just lay next to him while I write down the things that I’d like to keep writing for the next day. Sometimes he won’t let me do that because he wants me all for himself, and that is completely fine too. So that’s the exciting day in the life of Katy Evans. ☺

Twenty five years ago I was reading one of my favorite, newly-discovered authors and wishing that one day, I could write a book that would touch people in the way that her books touched me. I didn’t just wish it. I sat down and wrote my first “try” since I was fifteen. I took classes, workshops, contests, and started books and unfinished books every day for years. It took years and years and a lot of patience to find my voice, and only until I really sat down to write what I was bursting to write did Real happen. A book that has touched so many of you, and the start of making one of my dearest dreams come true. Long story short… never give up. They say never say never, but in this case, stick to your guns, follow your dream and never give up. The world is waiting for your stories. ☺

It’s some unwritten cardinal rule for me to always write with a cup of hot coffee or tea by my side. The funny thing is that I hardly drink it. But when I take a sip, and it’s cold, I can’t keep writing until I go and get another one. Is that weird?

Mine. Okay, how can I even describe to you guys what writing Mine was to me? Remy? Brooke? The way they love each other? What they go through? I CAN’T!

About the author:

Katy Evans grew up with books and book-boyfriends until she found a real sexy boyfriend to love. They married and are now hard at work on their own happily ever after. Katy loves her family and friends, and she also loves reading, walking, baking, and being consumed by her characters until she reaches “The End.” Which is, hopefully, only the beginning…
