This is the series that I've been waiting to talk about! I am crazy, stupid about these books... I almost can't! It's, without a doubt, one of my top favorites (ever!) that sits high up there on the pedestal, no joke. It's one of those series that I get super protective of and when I hear bad things about 'em, my heart breaks a little. There are only about 4-5 series that make me all psycho like that. Only 4-5, promise. ;p

if it hasn't been obvious, books over boys hasn't posted a review in forever only because lately, i feel the weight of a thousand pounds on my shoulders when i think about writing one. so, today's post is a... well, i don't know but i just finished one of the best books of all time and i need a place to unravel all my thoughts and feels... so, prepare for squeals and squees and run-on sentences and incoherent thoughts and all that. ;p
(i guess it makes it a bit easier when things aren't labeled.)
i heard about this book back when it was cover-less and have been dying to read it ever since. two days ago, i started what's left of me by the wonderful, amanda maxlyn, because i knew that in two days' time—today—that it was going to be released. i wasn't quite sure what to expect except heartache and... i got the best kind possible with WLOM.
Welcome to my stop on the Sentinel Blog Tour hosted by the fabulous Valerie from Stuck In Books. Before I get to all the amazing (and to be honest, bittersweet—for me, anyway) things going down today, can I just say how utterly upset and heartbroken I am to see this top favorite series of mine come to an end? I'm not a fan of series ending and when that series is an all-time favorite, it's even worse. Sad face, big time.
All things JLA and Covenant related are super near and dear to my heart because they were two of the very first, ever, of all time, things that I came into contact with (tell me why, after typing those two words, zombies came to mind? weird...) when I first became a blogger back in 2010. I remember back when JLA and the whole crew at Read. Chat. Love. used to get together almost every night to simply chat about every and all things book related. JLA was (and still is) our author rock star and three years later, it makes me smile ear to ear and my heart all warm and fuzzy and happy and excited to see all that she's accomplished and achieved. I'm so proud of Jennifer and she couldn't deserve it more!
JLA was also one of the very first authors to get me close and personal with a publishing house—Spencer Hill Press. (After checking Goodreads, it seems that I read Half-Blood in December of 2010. My eyes nearly popped out of their sockets after seeing how much time has passed; that's crazy pants!) Two months or so into blogging (I shouldn't even be requesting at this age; I wasn't even old enough to crawl ;p), I got ballsy enough to contact SHP and request an ARC of Half-Blood and my balls must have had luck because I got a copy. I nearly lost my sh*t! ;p It was definitely one of my highlights of being a newborn, all thanks to the fabulous JLA!
Back when Read. Chat. Love. was still up and running, we used to host random giveaways and because JLA was our author rock star, she sponsored and donated a lot to our giveaways. Anyway, my copies of Daimon and Half-Blood mean the ultimate most to me because they have these bomb-diggity stick drawings in them of the whole Covenant crew (well... the crew at the time... which only consisted of Alex, Aiden, Seth, and daimons, lol).
Needless to say, I love Jennifer to the next milky way and back times a million, billion, trillion, krillion, frillion, zillion, villion, gillion! This is why the Covenant series is super, duper, extra all-the-things-on-the-side special to me; it means the most to me. It's making my heart so heavy and sad to see this series go. I mean, I'm not even caught up (I stopped after Pure) but still, there's so much turmoil swirling about in me. I really just can't!
For today's stop, I'm taking a trip down memory lane (focusing primarily on Half-Blood; I'm taking you guys back to the beginning) where we'll take a closer look at how the amazing and epic and awesome Half-Blood (and Alexandria Andros' life) all began! Stick around because 1) this post is probably going to be the longest that I've written in all of 2013 ;p and 2) things are gonna go down! last week when i fell off the face of the social media world, it was because i was 1) lazing around, lol, and 2) reading a ton of books. i make it sound like i read so many but in reality, it was only a total of three. but hey, that was a lot for me in a week! ;p
i don't know if it's just me but there's this high that takes over when i finish a book. it's like all these endorphins flood my body and i feel like i'm on top of the world. no joke! anyway, when i finish a book, i feel like i can read 56893154975 books back to back to back to back.
Last night, I was Youtubing -- one of my top favorite pastimes -- and I ran across a few favorite songs that have my insides dancing like crazy. So crazy that I have to share 'em with you!

It's crazy how big of a role music plays in my life. When I listen to a song, I cling onto the lyrics for dear life, no joke.
Recently, there have been a few songs that I can't stop listening to, so I decided to make a blog post. Also, yesterday, one of my good Twitter buddy asked me for a few song recs which just... motivated me even more to type up this post.
Normally, I'd only do two songs or so with the Youtube video but this playlist has more than two songs so I'll just list 'em and you can check 'em out if you'd like!
This past weekend, I've discovered two new songs that my ears itch to listen to every single second that I'm not listening to them, haha! And because that's the case, I must share 'em!
One of them I discovered early Saturday morning and the other I just found literally thirty-five minutes ago, courtesy of my BIFFA. <3
Two nights ago was what I (as well as the whole fandom, probably, lol) like to call, #TVDThursday. I watch this show like... religiously and look forward to it every week; I've hardly missed an episode by choice, haha. ;p
This show (along with Grey's Anatomy and One Tree Hill) features some of the best music/artists ever. Seriously. After every episode, every week, I stalk @cmollere's Twitter account like a... crazy stalker, pretty much (i mean, i've even got his twitter handle memorized), to find the songs that were on that week's episode.
Anyway, this past Thursday's episode had quite a few songs in it (some weeks there aren't any, haha) but the one song that I always seem to hone in on all the time in most of the episodes is that one song towards the end when everything starts to wrap up and it's like... the downtime of the episode, lol, if that makes any sense. Also, this song is always one that's slower and it's just always the most perfect song for whatever scene it's playing for.
When it came on in this episode, I wasn't really even paying attention to the tv, but right when I heard it, my head immediately whipped around and my ears were definitely on high alert. After the episode ended, I didn't look for it right away but... last night, I re-watched the episode and hence my curiosity of the song yet again. I went to @cmollere's Twitter account and sure enough, the song list was there.
I Youtubed it, of course, and after the first thirty seconds, I fell in love with it. Hard. It was the piano that did it for me, for sure. So now I'm hooked and want to share it with all of you!
Recently (like last week), I finished J. Lynn's New Adult, Wait for You (check out my review here). For those of you who know me, I always (although, not so much lately... so, i guess it's not always anymore) find a song to listen to that in some way relates back to the book I'm reading.
At first, I couldn't find the right one until... randomly shuffling through my ipod, I came across this song that I swear could not be more perfect for Avery and Cam -- like word for word.
I haven't done one of these posts in a long while but I have a song that I wanted to share really badly with all of you.
As you all probably know, I am a huge One Direction fan, not as huge as a The Maine fan but...big enough. Anyway, just recently, they released a new song and a new music video. Aah, freaks the freak out! And of course, I lalalove it! I mean, they can't disappoint! Their songs are so uplifting and happy and addictive--makes me want to sing along all the time! But I mean, even if you don't want to sing along, you're mouth will go off without you! That's how addictive they are.
Okay, I'll stop babbling and show you guys the video already! Although, there will most likely be more babbling after.

I think it has become a whole lot of obvious that I am in love with this book because today's post makes this the fourth time I've talked about this book. But I just can't get enough of it and now that I get to combine it with music, oh you better bet that I'll be featuring it with a song!
This was the only song that I listened to when I read Crash so in all the ways possible, I associated this song with Jude and Lucy.
Southpointe High is the last place Lucy wanted to wind up her senior year of school. Right up until she stumbles into Jude Ryder, a guy whose name has become its own verb, and synonymous with trouble. He's got a rap sheet that runs longer than a senior thesis, has had his name sighed, shouted, and cursed by more women than Lucy dares to ask, and lives at the local boys home where disturbed seems to be the status quo for the residents.
Lucy had a stable at best, quirky at worst, upbringing. She lives for wearing the satin down on her ballet shoes, has her sights set on Juilliard, and has been careful to keep trouble out of her life. Up until now.
Jude's everything she knows she needs to stay away from if she wants to separate her past from her future. Staying away, she's about to find, is the only thing she's incapable of.

It's been a while since I've done one of these, hasn't it? I've recently taken up another music related meme called Theme Song Thursday hosted by Jena over at Shortie Says. In two of my blog posts, I featured Nyrae Dawn's What A Boy Wants & What A Boy Needs and Tammara Webber's Easy where I listed a bunch of songs that made it onto Momo's Playlist for those specific books. But just recently, after hearing the song come through on my ipod, I realized that there was one song in particular that was so, so, so perfect for all three books that I don't know how I missed it the first time around.
And yes, this song is seriously perfect for Bastian, Jaden, and Lucas--all three of them would probably be besties if they knew each other in real life. I mean Bastian and Jaden already are but Lucas would also fit right in!
Dia Frampton - The Broken Ones
Extremely perfect, right!? Everything she says could be applied to Bastian, Jaden, and Lucas at some point throughout the song! These boys are totally the broken ones and my oh my, do I love the broken ones, or what? ;)
Now onto some other songs that have been on constant replay for the past few days! These songs are what I would call my fresh batch because right now they're up for grabs! Meaning that they're so new to me that they're not in a book playlist, just yet. But the next book(s) I pick up or whatever, will probably have these songs in its playlist!
Hedley - I Won't Let You Go (Darling)
This one--without even reading the lyrics--sounds so sad and for no reason at all, it makes me want to cry. Like whatever or whoever he's singing about just seems to be in so much despair and I just want to hug...the singer or someone! This song definitely makes me want to read a major tear-jerker; one that will open up the flood gates, one that will just tear me apart (but at the end it better put me back together again--cause those are the best ones), one that will make me want to curl up into a tiny ball and fade into nothing, one that will make me become an obsessive fan of the author ;)

Oh goodness, how I heart this song! I love how the song dies down a little around three minutes but as it climbs towards four minutes, it builds up again and then your emotions get flung all over the place and you just don't know how to deal! And that piano at the end--geez, just rip my heart out, why don't you!? Just throw it on the floor and stomp all over it! LOVE IT CRAY!
I was going to feature a few other songs but after really listening to this one, I think I'll just leave it at this! So, what do you guys think of this song?! It's the BEE'S KNEES, ARMS, THIGHS, AND LEGS, huh!? I KNOW. So much love for it!

This week, I'm taking it back to one of my favorite books/series--The Wolves of Mercy Falls by Maggie Stiefvater! Shiver was one of the first few books that made me bawl like a baby and because it did so, it sits way up there for me. Today's song is very versatile and could probably go well with a ton of books, but for me, Run and Shiver go together like two peas in a pod! It's one of those songs that seems to bring me right back to Shiver whenever it comes on; the aching sadness of Sam and Grace's relationship and just...sigh. I can't even explain it. I just love it so much!

Why it's on the playlist: I feel like every. single. word. in this song came straight from Sam's voice, as if he was singing this to Grace.

I like how these are the first two lines in the song because it kinda sets the feel for Sam and Grace's urgent and fragile relationship. In this series, Sam is so poetic and lyrical and such a music man that I feel as if he was telling Grace that he'll sing one more time for her but then they really have to go and if you've read the book, you would know what I mean.

But every single time I do
I know we'll make it anywhere
Away from here. ♫
I feel like these few lines couldn't have been more than perfect when Sam and Grace got in that car towards the end, when they were trying so desperately to get away!

I nearly do. ♫
And these next few lines just break my heart--every. single. time. When Sam and Grace were in the car and then it hits them that he really needs to run and his bright, golden eyes are looking at her. Aah, heart palpitations!

Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you, dear. ♫
And this felt like Sam's reminder to Grace whenever he was gone and in his wolf form.
Maggie Stiefvater is a goddess with her words! Shiver enchanted me, grasped my heart, and promised to never let it go! If you're looking for a heartbreaking, glass-shattering, tear-jerker-ing read, Shiver would be the one for you! Every time I think back to it, the one word that always comes to mind is: sadness. Sadness, but in an oh-so-very-addictive way! Some might say that Shiver isn't that sad or whatever, but when you pair it up with this song, oh yeah, tears will be shed! ;)
And before I let you all go, I have to share one more video of this song with you. When I fall so madly in love with a song--to the point where I know the lyrics inside out--I start youtubing live versions of the artist singing the song. I ran across this video a while back but whenever I watch it, I get so completely lost in it, mesmerized--as if I've become hypnotized! So, because this video has that effect on me, there's no doubt that I must share it with all of you bookworms!
I KNOW! I FEEL THE SAME EXACT WAY EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I LISTEN TO IT TOO (with Shiver in mind, of course)! I also forgot to mention: I love, love, love, LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE when there's nothing but music playing towards the end. That's when the tears start falling real hard! When you can hardly contain yourself. When you start reaching for the tissue box. When you start doing the ugly cry.

I have been on such a huge contemporary kick that I just cannot get enough of them! Anyway, my current read is Easy by Tammara Webber and I love it so hard! For this book, I'm only listening to two songs but of course, they couldn't be more than perfect!
When Jacqueline follows her longtime boyfriend to the college of his choice, the last thing she expects is a breakup. Why it's on the playlist: Okay, I know I put this song on last week's playlist for What A Boy Wants and What A Boy Needs but I think this one fits more perfectly for Easy because there's a scene where Jacqueline and Lucas are dancing. In the club. And well, when you listen to it during that scene, the song becomes a whole lot of sexy-smexy. And after listening to it for that scene, it stuck with me!
Florence + the Machine - Never Let Me Go
Why it's on the playlist:THIS song has become one with Easy for me, haha! That sounds so weird but you bookish people know what I mean. I hope. Like, now whenever I listen to this song, Lucas and Jacqueline come straight to my mind! Just the way how it's sung to the way it sounds to Lucas and Jacqueline's relationship. I can't explain it --often like how I can't explain why certain songs fit to certain books-- but I love it cray and I think it fits uber well!
I totally forgot to schedule and write up this post yesterday so that it could go live at midnight but it slipped my mind and so here I am, posting this week's TST minutes before it's Friday on the west coast, lmao! I'm such a sucky blogger. Anyway, I love these two songs like cray and to me, they fit the book super-dee-duper well and now, I'm off to cuddle with some more Lucas!
